Do you use that size for 1 plant or 2? This sounds like a great idea, I might try it out this year.

I don't think it would work the same in the trees..
dude you just answered your own question, you know the roots penetrate through the sack, so why would they get rootbound? and by the time it gets to 5ft I'm sure the roots will be well on developed into the ground by then to keep it stable when windy. and instead of asking a question you already know that has been asked already why don't you just scroll back? sorry for being a prick, I'm having a bad day.

Yes the roots grow threw the bag/sac's with ease.
Average 5-6 foot plants with about 1/4 pound a plant.
There is no problem with them falling, With in the first few weeks the roots will grow threw the sac/bag and anker it to the ground.
I guess my bags/sacs are about the size of a 3-4g pot.

Thanks Shaman, I had read this entire thread and it didn't say anything about roots growing through the bag, although I suppose you eluded to it when you said the roots grow between the logs. .. and to that other guy, I actually didn't answer my own question, Shaman did though 
I'm lovin' the idea.
btw, there was a different post by you on some other forum that was excellent/more indepth, now that I understood.
I'm thinking of digging up the earth beneath the bag and before I slap down each bag adding some lime to the top layer of earth. Due to the area being surrounded by pine trees i figure this will combat the high acidic levels. Would the two soil differentiations between the bag and the soil below be bad for the plant? just a thought.

This is off topic but no one has answered my Q so ill pose it here. I have a grow box to start my seedlings but does it need to have proper ventilation for the first 2-3 weeks of growth before take em outside. I would open the box in the morning and night and there would be a mini oscillating fan as well as a fluorescent 2" grow light inside.

YTou will at leased need an exhaust fan.. Fresh air is as key as light and water..

anyone have any expireince with burlap sacks for tree growin? im using pots right now but would like to rig a few burlap sacks to a line that i can lower down but im worried theyll dry out really quick

I don't have any experience with it whatsoever but by the sound of it the burlap does an excellent job collecting moisture by it self, trying to contain anymore water may run the risk of root rot. I'd say just do it how shaman said, plus if it's on a bog why would you be concerned about retaining water
