Good question about repotting!

Any insight would be helpful. When i originally potted my girls i used half of a three gallon bag. My question is, if i fill the rest of my 3 gal bag with soil, after i lollipoped, will the roots grow upwards? Or am i just wasting a bunch of soil? If the roots would grow upwards it seems like it would be a great way to not have to repot in the tweener stage (from 1 gal pots to 3 gal pots).

roots don't like to grow upwards. something that should really help would be to tease the ends of your roots and break them to encourage new rooting. i've also tried dusting the rootballs with rooting powder, i don't know if it helped or not, but teasing your roots should help, especially with root bound plants.

Roots grow toward the water source. If the roots grow upward, they are expending energy that can be used for vegetative and flower growth that is otherwise allocated to root SURVIVAL...Gravity has a big part in this effect, as the roots are FIGHTING gravity to survive rather than FLOWING with the natural path of life...
