I am wanting to grow a particular seed ( THC Bomb ) for collecting pollen, but this seed took forever to germinate ( seven days before showing a tiny start of a tap root and another five days for the root to become roughly three times in length of the seed )
...my take on germination rates is: nature pulls that crap on purpose; imagine over the millenia if all seeds germinated at the same time and mother nature pulled a late frost or drought or some other weather related disasterf...well species lost/exticnt...delayed germ rates is just a built in fail safe...heck it did eventually germinate, no need to speculate why...
I never had any type of weed take that long to sprout.
see above, again, survival thing (or planting depth)...weed will be here after the nuclear holocaust along with the roaches and rats
Now it's set in the DWC and been there for a total of eleven days ( which is the picture here below ) This isn't the normal... Right ???? Or did I screw up and place the rooted seed too far into the starter cube ??? The leaves are starting to grow larger in size as of two days ago, but the stem is not getting any taller.
shhhh don't tell anyone but I place mine in DWC or in the tubs within a day or so of sprouting, I set my EC/ppms to near zero and make sure the trickle is "near" but not on the cube ...and yeah the flow is 24/7 (I use hydroton which allows me to tweek the flow just enough to barely keep the cube moist() ...if your sprouted with a strong set of colytons, it wasn't too far in the cube (but could delay it)...since its not all elongated and shit, I'd guess your light is about right
The other picture shows where the lighting is to the distance of the plant itself. I even think that where they are sitting seems to be too far and would cause unwanted stretch but nothing is happening - only the leaves are growing in size. Am I doing something wrong here....?
I dunno, that looks about right to me, ...now this is just my opinion but from the numerous pics I've seen here, peoples seeds are too stretchy from lack of light... too much light is another frorum myth, if not, how is it zillions of seeds sprout all the time and survive under noon June sun, yet our CFL's burn them? ...more often than not its temps, not lumens you gotta worry about....
if I weren't lazy I'd show you pics of two week old plants ...well ok, here they are:
see the 1st pic, thats them still in the rooters, just sprouting: (the "modified date is today because I had to rotate the orig pic, skeptics? I posted the orig somewhere here already) pic orig taken 10/25/2013
same seedlings 11/03 ...nice & stocky
and 4 days later
point being, place that dang light within a couple inches and move it constantly, but NMT 2"-3" away (personally I have mine @1", but thats me)
