I am sure this is a popular program; but I don't "get it."

You now have a program that officials MUST support to ensure their political future.

It's just a bribe so you won't fight corporations raping that land. We should all be bribed instead of corporations paying for advertising then more of us would be happy like you.

Ya if a official even mentions touching the P.F.D. people get crazy.

The state takes some profits from the oil companies and puts it in a semi-independent state corporation. The corporation controls its state investments while legislation controls hows it's spent. That' it in a nutshell, but it gets far more complicated.

If you live in Alaska for a year you are eligible for the permanent dividend fund, every year you get paid.

Yeah that is the problem. What if you get a guy like Ron Paul who says it is bullshit. He will not get elected into office despite the fact that he would be a better choice than someone like Sarah Palin.

Why doesn't your state just not add that extra "tax" on the oil companies and make fuel cheaper for all that consume it?

It would make sense to kick some cheap heating oil to the rural areas because its so damn expensive in the villages.

i dont get shit for living in florida, that pisses me off.
You get to live in a place that doesn't freeze your ass off half the year... Or ever... That's worth 2g's right there not counting seeing bikini's all year long too. That dividend doesn't sound like it's enough to heat a house there one winter when your oil should be practically free. I think you're getting the short end of the stick with the deal but that's just me.

yea but if i lived in a cold place i would just wear big coats and have a heater. Plus theres so many gettos down here they annoy me. Plus instead o freeze my ass off, it burns off down here.

Its bullshit, i want 1300 bucks lol

+1

I have met some Alaskans. Trust me when I say this - the eye candy in Florida is worth $1600.

They plunder the Alaskans natural resource wealth and buy them off for $1,600 and the people are happy. I would call that the short end of the stick.

There is plenty of eye candy and beauty here, not as much bikinis and beaches though. Heating isnt that expensive unless you live in a rural area. The fishing here is unbelievable, you guys ever see a million salmon? It all depends on what you like and how you want to live.
