That's what happens here @too larry but not ice, ginkgo leaves, and that's exactly what happened overnight into Wednesday morning. The Washington Post said "The Atlantic described the sudden leaf-drop as 'one of autumn’s most famous performances.' The New Yorker dubbed this annual event the 'Night of the Ginkgo'."

Courtesy of the Smithsonian -- gorgeous day here in DC, perfect weather for Bei Bei's sendoff. Bei Bei heads for China now, having turned 4 earlier this year, all part of the Giant Panda breading program. Hi today of 41°F with a nice breeze from the east at 8mph giving us a snappy "feels like" 36°F.

Clouds have been getting thicker all day. At 1440 it's raining, 72F with 69% humidity. High low of 75/44F with 100% chance of rain today, 10% tonight and tomorrow. 10 day high low of 75/37F with 2 days of possible rain. Rain should be pushed on out of the area in a couple three hours, then it will be cooling off.

We got a good 1/2-inch of rain overnight. The storm has wrapped up now and pushed through. We are expecting a high of 51°F this Sunday afternoon with sun peeking though! Just now its 41° and 95% RH.

Today was 61 and sunny. Tomorrow night will see a storm roll in and by the time it's done we're forecast to get 6-10". This being the banana belt of Colorado, I'll believe it when I see it on the ground.

Funny, that's how we do it in DC too. We have a river though, so when the forcast is off it was probably the river the bent the storm.

Really a nice day here. Temps in the 50s and sun! We are expecting another nice day tomorrow, and then rain on Wednesday. Sounds like mother nature may be walking up in time for Thanksgiving.
