Good Harvset terrible dry weight

Ok So i have 4 grows under my belt and I am sure I got hte hang of things now, good dank bud. My issue is when I dry and cure it seem like my bud just evaporates into thin air. When I harvest I cut the tree form the bottom and hang upside down and only cut off fan leaves. After 5 days i start to break down the branches and then i put them in paper bags for 3 or 4 days and then i go back with a nice trim of the remaining leaves that sticks out. After that I then put them into jars. Two weeks after that its like the bud has evaporated into damn near nothing. Now I know its supposed to shrink when dried but its not supposed to be like this. I am worried that I have a theif. I mean what should be atleast 1 oz a plant but i would be lucky to get 1 oz form 4 plants at this rate. Now I see people posting 2 oz dried and cured, maybe I am missing something. Its like I start out with some killer buds but how can i cure it for 1 month when it would all be evaporated into thin air in a months time.

if the buds dry to fast this will cause airy buds also.. try sum bud blood your nest grow around, this is sum great stuff for making your buds dense.. also trim all the leaf matter off b4 drying. trimming after drying your knocking off a lot of crystals

I would try putting the buds into jars directly after drying them. Skip the paper bag step. Make sure you burb the jars constantly to release moisture. 5 days of hanging up the buds sounds about as long as you want to go. Make sure the outside is crispy but the middle still has some moisture. The stem should be able to bend a little bit but not break.

Ive noticed that triming after dry makes the smell much better. I have trimmed right after harvest and i was not to thrilled. Actually trimmig after drying it wont loose trics cause these is not a lot of handeling, just trimming off the stuff that stands out.

This was actually mt first time doing the papaer bag thing and it actually made a difference. The bag got some of the moiste back into the bud after it dried out for the 5 days. Not so much it was moist but you know what i mean.

i let them go for 8 weeks and the bud is dank no question about that. Got people stuck in they seats man. Its an after harvest issue im havin over here.

The actual grow is cool an fafter i do my dry routine its fine. Its just 2 weeks in and the stuff just goes away into the air. The buds are dense but they just POOF...lol

Well i aint a quiter or nothing so I wil be sparkin up the 600 in a few weeks and start over.

What mae said, look at your before and after harvest weights. I've had kiln jars that have been full, and at the end of the week they are half empty, all because o drying, no thieving.

With that light and if they are grown correctly and vegged sufficiently, yo7u should be hitting 3-4oz per plant really.

8 weeks is a bit on the low side for flowering, regardless of strain. I think 9-10 is about normal. But if you like the smoke I guess that's all that matters. Wierd that the yield is so low....

Well I will ride her out to 9 weeks on the next batch and see what it do! I figure I grab another 600w and do a dual set up thats starrared 5 weeks apart. That way I will always have bud, even if it shrinks down to whats its been doing.

Besides I think I have a theif in the house anyway. I am not setting up again until I move then I will know for sure whatthe hell is going on.

purplehazin- I harvest my strains at 8 weeks (OG kush,Platinum OG,Blue Dream, and Bannana OG). 8 weeks strains are all over, and why would you want to grow a bud that takes 9 weeks (12.5 percent longer flower time...thats money going out the door).

Slim-what kind of nutrients/additives are you using?

Not all of us grow for profit, some of us will wait that extra week for a better smoke for ourselves. As you rightly say though, 8 week strains are all over.

not profit...electrical cost to the grow. I dont want to pay for the extra 7 days or more in electrical. Maybe if I was using cfls or floros then it wouldnt hit the wallet so hard.

let me ask what no one else has asked.. you stated that you've had what like three or four grows under your belt now.. here's my ? for you.. has it all been with the same strains, or has each grow been with different strains, or maybe your growing more than one strain at a time? why i ask this, is i have noticed that some of my strains have a lot more weight loss during drying and curing than some other strains..
i think it was my herijuana, but not 100% positive, that really seemed to loose alot of weight during the dry and curing process while my mk ultra didn't seem to loose as much weight.. if you've been growing the same strain, i would try a new strain this time around and see if that makes any difference at all..

I caught the lil fucker. It was a theif....damn step kids are the devil in kids bodies.

Now that I have moved the jars to a secret location the shrinkage is no more. The thing that kills me is i will never know exactly how much I lost so I cant even get a good dry weight amount.

Damn dude that sucks the little guy(s) were stealing your buds man! Cant say I never took buds from my step dad when I was young too but damn. I give him buds now so it makes up for it in a way. Glad you found out the issue though so no more disappearing harvests that would definitely piss me off. Atleast when I took buds it was only a small amount of some mexi brick shwag lol no homegrown danks.

dang....I was gonna chime in after reading the whole thread.....and suggest that I thought maybe you DID have a thief in the house (especially since you described the possibility , cause of other people being in the house) ...... then the last couple posts you verified that You DID have a thief.... Damn .... That would NOT be tolarable.... step child or sibling or whoever....maybe , it's just me .... But I'd go through the thiefs room and stuff ...and take whatever I felt that was of value ....and sell it on ebay or craigslist.... and recoop some cash.... and even the score.... but that's just my opinion ...everyone is different...

listen to me. Use SnowStorm ultra EVERY watering during flowering. At the final 2-3 weeks, use GRAVITY. Both are made by "Humboldt's County"

SnowStorm will add resin/thc/trichrome weight. GRAVITY is a flower hardener that IS designed for ganja. Using this at the end will GAURANTEE dense buds.
