Good cloner?

So you think your a good cloner? Well I'm far from that, more novice than anything. So can any one tell me the ideal clone? From top of the plant or closer to the bottom? What branch is ideal for the heartiest clone? Also what are some of your "basic" cloning techniques? Soil an hydro lets hear them al!!

Best clones come from the soft supple branches, anywhere on the plant. If it's stiff and woody, not so good to clone.

I find the bubble cloner works best for me. Real easy to make. Tap water if fine and it doesn't need to be Ph balanced, no nutes until after roots show (1/4 strength).

What lights do you clone under? And how long does it usually take for you to start seeing roots? And do you stick your cuttings right in the water or do you stick the cutting above the water?

Just using 2 low wattage CFL's, 36W total, about a foot above.
Takes forever for the roots to show, 10 days or more I suppose, but I'm not using a rooting compound.
I'm not methodical about it, so most of the cuttings are above the water, of 12 there might be 2 in the water. The stems being moist is the important part.
I change the water once or twice a week, and recommend useing a water treatment. H2O2, Hydro-Sparkle, PondZyme something like that.

Anyone else have any tips/tricks when it comes to cloning? Humidity dome or what? What lights do y'all clone under?

I like the ez-cloner no dome. Usually take 5 inch clips generally from the top (mainly because I was planning to top anyway). I think a 2ft, 2 or 4 bulb t-5 would be just fine for light. I've heard of 24/0 for light I go 18/6. Generally snip the big fan leaves in half (seen other people jump off the bridge so why not). Tap water. Temp 80. Humidity 75. Now for the downfall. It usually takes about 14-17 days for the roots to look how I like them but they show around 5-7 days. 100% success rate so far. I suggest a clean work area and to keep your gear clean. I can't stress this enough. Make sure you clean you machine immediately after each use.

I just used the oxy cloner. The unit was $50 and has 20 sites. I used spring water from the store ($0.80 per gallon) and I cut some clones and quartered the stem and didnt use any rooting hormone. Just a home made bucket cloner with spray jets. Regular tap water, no ph, no rooting hormones, no scraping, no splitting stems. Just cut em on a 45 and put them in. I don't even give my tapwater offgassing time but that's just due to laziness. It doesn't seem to matter. Put them off to the side so they get a low level of light.
Pump runs 24 hours. I don't touch them except to watch roots grow. Same water for 2 weeks. Pull them out in 2 weeks with roots. 100% success rate for the last 3 years since I got the cloner.
It's important to choose well, as Hugo Phurst said, get a supple branch, not a stiff one.
Every once in a while, some strains (usually the leafier ones) will wilt for a day or two. When that happens I put a portable humidifier in the room and it fixes it...but most of the time they won't wilt if you have the misters.

i use rockwool, and dome . 23w cfl. and just water, no ph bs.
