Good budget duct fans and filters?

Hey all, just waiting on my tent to arrive 4x4x80" and was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good budget inline fan and carbon filter. I've checked Amazon but so many choices and mixed reviews. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently replaced my carbon filter with one of these, after a bit of research, and I'm really happy with it.

The 4 x 16 for $52 would probably be plenty for you. They have them on Amazon too but it was slightly cheaper right from the distributor, came really well packed, and shipped quick.


You can find these cheaoer elsewhere, but I been running this baby 24/7 for near 4 years and it's still performs like new, and super quiet. It replaced a cheapo Chinese model that was noisy and lasted less than a year...If it's a hobby you are going to stick with, spend a little more on the fan. Or if noise is a factor...

For a budget fan I've been happy with the Active Air fans. For a higher end fan, I've been impressed with the Vortex VTX. I almost got one of those Pro Series Max Fans that my hydro store had on clearance, but by the time I found out how good of a fan it was and went to buy it, it was gone.

The vortex vtx series fans are what I always buy, never had one fail. Have several 10 and 12 inch ones that just don't quit.

It's all about balance and bearing quality. The cheapo fans have crappy chinese bearings that don't last. The vortex fans have quality sealed ball bearings that last. They are also balanced very well, a tiny amount of balance issue will eat bearings up regardless of quality.

Ya, that's all I've been buying anymore. I have a new 6" one in the box, waiting for me to set up the 4x4 tent I've had sitting here. I just have to decide where I'm gonna put it. I'm running out of room for all my shit, lol.
