For the last 8/9 years i have grew weed for the 1st 6 years i just had one cuboard on the go with a 400 watt hid light, but for the last 3 years i have been running 4 lights all 400 watt HID lights, i know for a fact my elec bill is double than the average home where i live, i would not run anymore than this but would like to know what is pushing it with the elec company to wonder what i use that merits such a high bill, (or do they even bother) i have never had any probs with the elec company and they do read my meter every 3 months, (i know and prepare each time for the vist) so they smell nothing, whats your thoughts please ? :blsmoke:

I'm not from the U.K.

....but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.

Just pay your electric bill on time....you'll be fine.

400's are a waste of time imho, 600s are better for the money electricity per lumen is much more efficient ! the lumatek digi ballasts are the way to go!, a m8 was running 2 power plant magnetic ballasts, i ran 2 lumatek digi ballasts, for alot less electric thanmy m8, damn i could of run 3 600 digi for the price of his magnetic ballasts, but i havent used the superlumen swith yet, i do believe they use more electricity then! ill find you the power consumption chart later, even the 400 watt digi ballasts will use less electricty over the the magnetic ballast!

also if bill your doesn't differ much in price over the year and bills are paid regular and on time and they get the access needed to read the meter your all good.
they pick up on a sudden usage of electricity, houses burning kw/h with hardly anything in em!!!! another good 1 is when the meter man knocks the door let hi in and put the kettle on! and offer him a dink ;) the kettle will make the light blink rapidly on the meter / or if its a old meter the wheel will spin faster, knowing that you just put the kettle on because you made a point of it by offering him a drink, he will take no notice of the usage:mrgreen:

Try and keep the overall usage on a similar par with the past,a good rule though is one kw light for every bedroom,if you are using multip;le lights you really wanna be getting some adf,not much fun being the only clean house on the street when it's just snowed!!godd luck m8.

ok thanks for the advise friend when the elec man comes the lights are always off, also i get good results with 400 watt lights i did think about 600 watt but then it would add more heat so stuck with the 400, the bills are always paid on time and just wanted my mind put to rest, but thanks for your view. happy growing dude.

my mate was saying to watch for when its frosty but i think it should be ok (i hope) its a new build homeand i cant see the heat stopping any frost from lying on the roof as there is pretty good air exchange temp is normaly a steedy 75f, i guess only time will tell but i only run the lights through the night, or in 12/12 they are on from 6pm to 6am, i mean when its damp out side my roof is just as damp as the rest of the street so when its frosty it must be roughly the same, (i hope LOL) thanks for the feed back dude,

there is a huge dif between damp and frost! and the diff in heat temps between a 400 and 600 aint that much really, you are doing yourself outta electric and lumens,, 2 600 watters on light rails will give you the better yeilds, less heat and less electric usage...... the adjusta shade on the light rail is great.
heat sig tip: if ducting into the loft area aim ducting towards the chimmney breast, central heating flu,or hot water tank, ideally extract it back into another room, get a ceiling vent, put it in your ceiling in the room next to the grow, conect the ducting to it from in the loft, and you can heat the room next door all nite for free, odviously you need to use a filter, but this can cut heating/electricity usage some what!

ok dude cheers for that, i have built a room within a room in the loft and out side the room there is no heat problem, even when i feel the roof its nice and cool, not cold, not hot, the heat energy has been lost so frost when we get it should still sit, i will just have to keep an eye out in the future, thanks again for the word.

is it in the loft? if so just line your rafters with mylar, drawing pin it to the beams, it hides 30% of heat, it will also allow cold air to travel between the beams fom the eaves of the house, that will deffo keep the snow on ya roof.lo
or like i said vent it back to another room by using ducting and a carbon filter.l

aye aye my the uk it is! mylar has a excellent heat hiding ability, mylar 30/50 % of heat can be hidden, thermo guard 75/80% heat block, anti detection foil 99% heat block, remember these all work better when there is a 50mm between the outer wall or roof and mylar/a.d.f it keeps the air in between the gap the same as the abient air temp, also find the coolest spot in the loft and stick a small oscilating fan there, to circulate the cool air towards the grow room/tent.
hope it helps ya out.
( for the heat hiding you might want to search ex military stores for anti flir tank covers , military made to hide tanks in th dessert from apaches and heat seaking missiles, alot cheaper than a.d.f!)

yeh have always got parra about choppers going about aswell dont like those fu**ers going about, they now catch more cunts than ever, read a story in the paper a guy down south dug in truck trailers in the ground and had like a walk through corridor underground, he set fire to an old caravan of his own as waste, the police chopper turned up they landed and they smelt the weed busted big time for that one mistake, it was a farm out in the country man, he was doing it for years, what a chance ?

Also meant to say my grow set up is in the middle of the loft and outside the set up (but still in the loft) has nice air coming off the eve side vents that clears through the area the girls seem to love it and always look ultra healthy, i always make the point of moving them all about to make them work for the light, again they seem happy with this, even mates (very close) say they smell nothing in the house living area etc, i do also have 2 small fans moving the air, i have read that loft areas can be good and bad sometimes in the winter if its really cold their not going to like it and you can get bad results, then in the summer if its hot you run a big risk of mould, to be honest ive always done pretty good stuff, ive got mates who have been to the dam and say my shitt is just as good if not better, i do put alot of time and love into it but lets face it good shit is just that good shit, i have another good mate who brings seeds from down south and gives me them for free am talking thousands of them, i have only cloned twice and it went ok but i just prefer from seed, 90% of the time the seed is very very good, but for some strange reason this will not start in rock wool, they will only start in soil in a prop, weird eh ? well again thanks for the details. chill.
