I've been using a water heater timer to run my 3,000 watts of HID light for close to a year now and the 50$ cheapo unit has been very good to me, especially considering it was a gift to me so it was free
but unfortunately a resistor fried in it and it failed to start a week ago.
Since then I've been manually turning the breaker on and off. Not because I'm too lazy to fix the problem, but money was an issue. Now I finally have the money to get something new.
I'm in the market for a new timer or light controller. I don't really plan on expanding much more (probably not beyond 4,000 watts) so it doesn't have to be a huge crazy unit with 8+ outlets. I care more about durability and reliability than I do anything else. My budget is between 200-300$. Any opinions? I'm hooking up to a dedicated 220 volt 30 amp breaker.
