Going with Sunshine #4 this time ...

Hope this isn't too much bother gang ... but growing minds would like to know.

The grow store was temporarily out of the 3.8 cubic foot bales of ProMix HP - but they had the same size bales of the Sunshine #4. The two of them look like they are comprised of basically the same stuff - peat, perlite, lime and wetting agents. I can grow in the HP ... but I am wondering if there are there any gotchas to be wary of growing with the #4 Mix? Or is it pretty much the same as using the HP?

Pretty much the same, I've used it, works great

good soiless mix, close to promix blends. Promix has micoryhzae sunshine has yucca i believe.

I run pro-mix and have used sunshine mix #4 the black and blue bag

The only reason I switched was bales of pro-mix were significantly cheaper

Your usual methods should be just fine

They sold the same sized bale of the #4 Mix for $3 less than the Pro-Mix. I scored a wee bonus then. Think I'll turn that bonus $3 into RAW filters and 1 1/4 papers.

Thanks Green Machine. Yup - it does contain their silicon additive they call "RESILIENCE.'

I am realizing the benefits of adding some kelp to their diet. It will be interesting to see how adding the silicone additive helps 'em.
