can i ask this question as noone is answering my post ..
is deironized water okay ? isit the same as distilled, what is the best water to use
so im using de-ironized water for 'car batterys and irons'. without any nutes its about ph 6.5-7 with nutes it goes above 7 so i use Ph down
isit the same as distilled will it cause any problems, will using normal tap water set out in an open container for 2 days be better ?, 'its free'
should i boil the water then let it set out?
whats the best way to get water to use for my plants? on a budget dont have the money for a water distillery there about £200
i have PH down .. coz the tap water round my area is about Ph 8

Underneath sits:
-42 quart storage bin (Walmart $7)
-150 gph< aquarium pump (Walmart/PetStore $15)
-Basic Timer (Walmart $7)
-Basic Dripper kit, hoses and nozzle for a few plants (Home Depot $10)

So about 40 bucks gets you a res, timer, pump, and hoses to work it all, not complicated, no reason you aren't using a res other than laziness.

i think i might use one acutually . ive got a hoze lock distribuiter so im going to hook it up to a fisk pump and but it in a bucket full of water.. and plug the pump on a timer. so when it turns on my plants are watered . the pump ive got in my shed is a 500gph pump i think so ill only need it on for a tiny bit every cuple days

What medium are you in soil I assume? You should run it on a timer, just 5 mins if you can score a cheap digital. Bucket is bad, you want to catch the extra run off (i do run hydro) you are in soil and its normally bad to recyle, but get a bigger res than 5 gals because a pump that strong is what I use to water about 1/4 of my stadium

yeh im in soil, .. how much should the plants be watered , say once every 3 days . or a little water every day ? ill get a garbarge bin for the resvior so i have loads of water spare, i might try and get hold of a smaller pump so i dont over water my plants .. i might just do a test to see how much water it gives to each plant if left on for 5 mins . cheers man

These are outdoor? I would normally say a plant should be watered daily, to maintain even nutrient uptake, etc and to always maximize photosynthesis

listen mate i have just come back from the canaries so i decided to use an appropriate sized container drilled some holes in the bottom/filled water then let it sit on the soil worked a treat that was for 10 days. hope that helps. i heard someone else doing this so i thought ill try it and alls good.

so im going on holiday in about a month for 12 days i need to find a watering solution thinking of those bottle stakes things somehting like the link or similar
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6-BRILLIANT-AQUADRIP-BOTTLE-TOP-SELF-WATERING-SPIKES-/350359961713?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Home_Garden_GardenEquipment_HandTools_SM&hash=item519314c071
i dont have the money to buy a pump, resvior and drip system
im thinking of switching to 12/12 just before i leave so that it will take slightly longer for the plants to dry out? because of overall less time exposed to heat thoughout the day?
is there anyother ways to do it?
im sure sombodys been on holiday before and used somthing to water there plants ?
that would work, that sale "water globes" at wal-mart & alot of different kinds online

I am building a grow closet and have been contemplating how to do watering without lugging gallons of distilled water home every week. This thread has some excellent ideas. My 6" pots are sitting in plastic trays already. I'm thinking of layering an inch or two of pebbles and placing pots on top of that. I'm heading to Walmart to see what they got in pumps and manifolds. I have 18 pots to water....
