Going indoor

I just finished my first grow outdoor, it was a success.
Now the season is over and i am going indoor.
I have a big empty room just waiting to get started.

Where do i start???:o

I have a T-5 and i wonder if that would work for mother plants?

I want to harvest every 2 months if possible.

This room is big, how big should i make the grow room?

What kind of lights should i get? 2- 600 watter hps?
or one 1000w hps?

what about ventilation? the room has windows, do i still need some kind of ventilation?

Is co2 a bonus? or a necessity?

I think im gonna do soil being its the first indoor grow, and its cheaper.

Im am like an empty canvass,
how would you do it?

All your questions are in the FAQ but since I am feeling especially benevolent today I will set you straight.

You can make your room as big as you want, consider how much you are willing to spend on electricity and go from there.

1000w HPS will cover 5x5, but if your place is more like 3.5x7 you will be better off with two smaller bulbs.

How many watts is youtr t-5? It will work for clones but I think you will probably need more light if you intend your mothers to supply a 5x5 or larger area. I have (6) 32watt t-8's (like t-5's but bigger bulbs) in my veg room for my mothers (4) and clones, and frankly I am thinking of adding/replacing with a MH becuase the plants actually veg faster in my 1000w HPS bloom room.

You need ventilation, I suggest buying air cooled hoods for your lights and inline vortex fans, which are quiet and push a lot of CFMs. Run a duct line through your hood(s) and outside the room for exhaust. Install a carbon filter at the begining of the line (before the fan) unless you want your neighborhood to stink of ganja.

I would pass on the CO2 for now, it adds in some extra variables and I am assuming you are wanting to keep things simple judging from your preference for soil. If you are like most and on a budget, you need to think about where your marginal dollar will give you the biggest increase in yield. After you have your room dialed in without the CO2, adding it will make a huge difference and the cost will be worth it. But since you don't have indoor experience, you want to master the basics (learn to walk before you run, if you will). That's the beauty of it, most setups are modular.

And as long as we are talking about cost, you are looking to spend ~ $1,000 for what I just talked about. 200 for a fan, 200 for a ballast, 100 for a hood, 100 for a bulb (you can get cheaper ones but spend the money for the hortilux or some other bulb designed to grow plants, its worth it), 100 for a can filter, 100 on dirt and pots and hygrometers and ferts, and depending on how lucky/resourceful you are maybe more. If you live somewhere warm you might need an AC to bring the room down to less than 85 degrees (fans ventilate well but don't cool much).

Hey,, thanks for taking the time to help out. I have been reading the faq, and numerous books and videos,, but i think word of mouth is by far the most reliable source of info. I can afford the equiptment, i just dont want to get unnecessary items,, i really would like to keep it as simple as possible, but i would like to be sucessfull too.

Man,,, this indoor stuff is complicated!!!

outdoors was so easy.

Ive been looking around for lights and i found a 1000w hps with hood and ballast for $100 BUCKS,, IS THIS A GOOD DEAL?

why cant i just throw 6-8 2ft soil potted plants into a flowering room and in 2 months have some dank weed?
I cant? I need fans and ventilation, co2 and all that other junk?
the temps here are between 65-75deg the room is well ventilated with windows that can be covered during the dark cycle.

is it that complicated?

geeze!!!
