well yes and no.

it depends on how much time is left in your bud

strictly speaking, yes, as long as you have a source of male pollen you can create seeds.
if they arent allowed enough time to mature most will be sterile.

seed ripening doesnt take as long as bud maturing for some reason, so if its really really ripe pick 1 small bud and pollenate the shit out of it.

keeping in mind pot pollen sticks to you like fucking airborne glue, and will travel with you to all your plants.

also keep in mind unless your breeding 2 of the same kind of plant, you need to pay close attention to the traits the male bring with it.
(i normally breed the fastest flowering male, so succesive generations get shorter show times for the males)
and once you get into the botanical aspect of plant genetics.

i mean if i had a lab, well if i had a lab that wasnt full of cheap ass bargin basement homemade scavenged.... well anyhooo.
theres alot that could be done by an individual today.
you could start with electrofloreses kits and start building a database of genetic profiles, then with some base samples from hemp, and as many other still pure strains that are left, one should be able to track desirable traits, and with the right enzymes maybe even suppress certain traits.

wow im rambling.

yes it will work.

IF you can give that last bud at least 3 weeks, longer would be better but 3 would produce some viable seeds.
