giving defoliation during flower a try

Oh, and when I grew my biggest outdoor plant that got 10+, it was in a hole I dug with a backhoe and I use fencing as a trellis, it was 12x12 I think and it didn't have any of the crappy larf that big outdoor plants always get in the middles from no air flow/ getting no light. When I grew outdoor, that was the shitty part of not training plants, the only good buds are around the outside of the plant, most of the inner stuff was boo boo. That was the only way to get that much on a plant in ny. Hella training. It was vegged indoor over the winter, was about 6' tall when put outside in the end of may, trellised, and harvested end of September.

And I think some one needs to learn what makes a plant tick like Homebrewer and other seasoned growers have advised.

FWIW, I've done "practical work" for close to 50 years on all kinds of stuff which now includes growing tropical fruits in a large greenhouse. Ever eaten a home grown mango that registers 26 brix? Guarantee you'll give up your best pot plant to taste more of this Nectar of the Gods. ;)

Nah me granny has plenty of mangos in her garden.. It's good being best of both worlds buddy I tasted that mango naturally grown in it own climate...(that my friend is a taste to due for, add freshly picked passion fruit and blend that bitch with ice, and all you'll be missing is a:joint: of tanzanian magic then I think you will know what the real fruits of natural nature does.
The point is indoors it's a must unless you have a palace for them, and not all of us can grow as much as we would like.

For example my flowering tent is a 80cm square and 160cm tall, I was doing a four plants perpetual in there and without training apart from spreadin....

I had to defoiliate otherwise I would have just had the main cola to look forward and side shoots would be squished because of strong intake that sucks my tent in.

I have gone down to two perpetual now was taught a trick or two where I can make one plant equal what I was getting with four.

But before this two I made sure I had and still have high brix in my soil that reduces stress of meny kind and helps the mj plant ...

My plants get honey from day one of flower I found that helps that stunt and keeps the plant heathy and praying day and night, And high crystal formations.:hump:

So my friend i know what real mango/ meny other mangos you probably didn't even know that exist lmao tastes like with Gods natural African rain and lovely sunshineand garded by big ass fruit bats.:bigjoint:

so your basically saying if you thinned the canopy out and removed a lot of the weak shoots, so a good amount of light, air flow was to get deep in the canopy
it could have doubled the yeild ?
makes sense to me, when I trim back a thick bush its all brown and looks dead in the middle ( no airflow or light )

Bingo. If you've ever noticed buds that are way under the plant canopy and covered by a couple leaves, they turn lime green (as it would if you leave a plant in complete darkness for days) and they usually will grow pollen sacks 9/10 times. The buds will also be fluffy as hell, though they do seem to produce lots of resin, but, other than that it's garbage and can screw your garden up if those buds to herm and pollinated things.

I'm not quite sure how some don't notice this, if the canopy is as full as mine usually are, it happens 100% of the time unless plants are pruned a bit.

Lots of light surely helps.

If I had DE, it would be worth keeping the lowers no doubt. As of now, they always herm, fluff way too much or just do not full out at all, that's why I really want to get better light down through, up the yield and tighten them up a bit. I'm noticing with a recent sog I'm doing with gg4, I left all the lowers since the light gets to the bottom, they filled right out, still smaller obviously than the tops, but dense :) I haven't done a sog with a sativa growing plant in a long time, gg4 allows so much light through the plant, especially when they are flowered small and only 24" tall mid flower, no need to snip anything at all, I love it

thats a good point about the hieght of the plants in flower, i grow under a 600w hps and try and keep the canopy 18" high and remove a few fan leaves if the canopy too thick
this gives me great results

Just can't understand people flowering plants 2-3ft high indoors under light, only the top 1/3 of the plants will have buds worth keeping by mid flower their going to be 5-6ft high

short wide plants in flower is the best way to get the maxuim yeild

I used to grow orchids and am now a commercial and home gardener. My goal back then and now was to push, produce, as much foliage going into flowering as possible.

Hmmmmmm, wonder why I would do that?

Not true. I used to get at least 10 oz dried bud per plant on plants that would get up to 5' tall indoors.
Lol orchids we are on about bud here mate.
And for the plant you must have had a good set up I guess.
I think I'll explain better what jacks is saying...
Do a single stem grow then do one where it's short and bushy trained= the point he is making.

Now on the single stem the main cola is gonna carry most of your final weight right....
But on a short and multiple stem sort of looking like a monster crop with even canopy you will get more than one cola that will hold the final weight.
So if it's 2 oz per cola (just an example)
This is one of my last plants that I'm am gonna grow like thisDSC_0140.JPGExcusethe extreme nakedness of this lady but from this Painkiller A I got from the main cola 7grams.
But on Painkiller B wich is still in flower DSC_0199.JPG this was week two but the point is look at how meny eg 7 gram tops x10.
And if I left it without defoliation guess how much problems I would have???
By his maths I was convinced I needed a change lol amd I still get to defoliate lmao win win.
This is just example I can post a today pic of Painkiller B. Painkiller A was done and smoked just not buttered yet:bigjoint::eyesmoke:
Ignore the first pics plant in the background it was herbies fucking tough nugget afghani

Did i fuck up there orrr...:eyesmoke::blsmoke:
My plants are small because I dont have a huge tent it's 80cm square and 160 tall.
And I'm no commercial man either.

if you consider a freshman trying to talk shit to the professor, then yes, you fucked up so much it's hilarious.
Aah he keeps going back and forth so I thaut I'd chip in, gotta have a laugh somewhere in this thread.... Why not me eh lmao

And he doesn't seem to understand multiple tops yeilds better than the way he is saying.

I'm no pro but that point he is wrong. In my case small space and personal grow and since I was explained to and done it...
Yh I'm sure he is wrong. Small bush is more consistent weight all throughout 5 ft just the lollipops might have a consistent weight but below the canopy is a waste.
He is a pro he should know this, right

Here is the pic today week 4 DSC_0212.JPG DSC_0213.JPG this is Painkiller B week 4 on Friday... Maybe I should have just posted the pics instead of talking lol.
Painkiller A at week a 4 the main cola looked like this. But I have more than one cola that will build just as big as that one. These are fatter already.
I don't go all out on nutes either water water feed. Bish bash bosh
No major nutes either a cheep one lol

so why is there high calyx-to-leaf ratio canbis strains, there the ones i like to grow.
take it you grow strains with high leaf- to-calyx ratio
