i was reading an article on treehugger about starting a pumpkin compost pile. i believe it makes sense since everyone throws out their pumpkins get them to drop it off and in a couple months you have alot of free compost. they were also talking about doing the same with christmas trees.

I was looking for additives for making organic teas and saw this article that uses pumpkin: http://www.sundaytimes.lk/090517/FinancialTimes/ft317.html

Ampara -- Three kilos of papaya, three kilos of banana, three kilos of pumpkin, two eggs, three kilos jaggery and 10 litres of water. This is no recipe for a fruit salad but the ingredients for a kind of organic fertilizer called ‘Effective Microbial Solution (EM) or Fruit Tonic which is applied to the soil to change the composition and nourish the soil.
I assume the eggs are for bacteria? Would be some stinky shit after a while hehe

Nutrients in pumpkin: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2601/2 scroll down most of the page to get to the potassium and phosphorus amounts...
