Girls are not feeling well.

Hello family,

I am dealing with a very strange problem. This growth I was very careful about everything. Ph, nutrients, temperature. Although my efforts the girls are not in a pretty good shape. The roots are brownish (not white) and they stoped growing. They are not dead but not alive too. I really don't know what the problem is. I am growing in a drip hydropic system in calay pebbles .I am with my ph around 5.8 - 6.2. Ec levels around 0.8 using canna nutes, reverse osmosis water .They are eating 15 min/1hour and in the night time 15min/3 hours. After I saw some yellow leafs I looket at some online charts with different deficiencies and it looks like a magnesium deficiency. I the added 2ml/10L of calMag but nothing happend.

Please if you know what s going on hit me whit some ideas.

Have a beautiful day folks.

Do you drain to waste or back to a res?

If you are using ro water you should have been using cal/mag from the start.

It takes several days for the top of the plant to show a change from something you did in the res.

I found watering every hour caused root issues for me. The rocks hold a lot of water. I would say no matter what give it 2 hours between watering.

You have a Ca and Mg def and you won't see any difference in the already damaged leaves. They won't improve but you should not see more damage. I don't know what Ca/Mg additive you are using but 2ml/10l could be low, check the suggested rates. I use GH CaliMagic and give the full 5 ml/4l usually. Don't worry about overwatering in hydro.

You said you have brown roots as well, what are the res temps?

Back to the reservoir. I will try to water every 2h from now. Hpbe they get batter.

The suggested rates are 2.5/10l and 5/10l. It is a very concentrate solution.

Then I'd only up the dose if you see the damage progressing. I'd also consider what @dbz and @rkymtnman said about root issues. If the root coloration is from your nutrients (mine turned a bit brownish using GH when I was in NFT) you're fine, if not you may wish to consider using pool shock or another disinfectant in your reservoir.

Another problem you could be running afoul of with a warmer res is the oxygen dissociation curve. Here's a good post on it:

The take away is to run your res closer to 62/63 than 70.

Really good article. Will try to lower the temp by moving the res away. Hope will win some

Just a few points.
Using RO water, you need to bring your ppm to around 120 using Cal/Mag and Epsom prior to adding your base nutes.
I would add 1 gram of Epsom per gallon in the irrigation water and also use it in mister and mist the plants 4 to 6 times a day with lights on.

If your growing Hydro drip over clay stones, may i ask why you are using Canna Coco nutes. They look like they may be getting too much Nitrogen.
I will send you a sheet, Less is More, I did using Canna nutes, I do grow in coco.
