And they're off....

Hey Folks,
We have 4 Dr Greenthumb, GSC just sprouted and ready for greatness. Hoping for one that has that intense gunpowder taste, which could very well be my favorite flavor.
I had a great one previously but lost it when, after rooting and putting it in soil, the clone just stopped growing and died.
This time I will be extra careful and not count my chickens before hatching.

They will be grown in Pro mix with no additives.
Nutrients- Jacks Classic
20-20-20
10-30-20
20-10-20 (with micros)
And plenty of epsom salts.

I will be using the drain to waste method giving a low dose of nutrients each time i feed (250-350 PPM)
I will also be giving periodic foliar feedings.

They will veg under 800 watts MH, and flower under 1800 watts HPS.

Here we go.....

I'm subbed. Do you prefer square pots over round. I see alot of people using them. I use peat pellets, then party cups, then to smart pots. Just wondering if there' an advantage to square over round or just preference.

Edit: I'm running 3 Unreleased Marz Cookies. Which will be first go at cookies. If I get a female.

I use square 4 inch pots from seed to early veg. I use really small pots to start so the tap root wont grow too far straight down and my store only sold square in that size. I want it to hit bottom asap and branch out from there to fill soil instead of rapping around the pot. After 2-3 weeks i transplant to round pots. Pot size depends on plant and what my goals are for it (huge tree or small bush, etc). If i plan on a long veg i will go from the 4 inch square to a 1 gallon round, wait 2-3 weeks and trans into final 5 or 10 gallon round pot.

I've never considered using my space more efficiently based on pot shape but its probably not a bad idea.

Yeah I didn't even think about that. Using square pots, in a rectangle tent. You could get more pots in it. But really only for early to mid veg. Bc once they got so big, they would be laying on each other. If they were set to close. Good info @cindysid tyvm

Yes, the 6.5" pots only work on a short veg. I'm collecting cat litter buckets for longer veg!

Those would work awesomely. I could see using square pots on my next big run. I' gonna pop 2 ten packs of Chinook Haze and one pack of Cackleberry from greenpoint. To see what i find.

Edit: and I can get 6x6 squares at my local hydro shop for 1.25 each. And 30 of em would fit good.

I wonder if 6x6 would be big enough to veg till preflowers show, or if they would get root bound before then.

Mine get root bound if I leave them longer than about a month, which usually isn't quite enough time for preflower. I run a mix of fems and regs and usually end up sexing the regs in the flower room in bigger pots. It's a bit of a hassle, but it works for me.

I grow a clone of gsc for years and I always make extra cuttings of this one, ive seen numerous times over the years a clone just go downhill and die for no apparent reason,.

I almost lost it several times....Most Finicky hard to grow plant I have...But thats just the particular cut I have. It does also get lots of yellow leaves at the end so I do no pruning on this strain as it sucks all the fans dry...
