Gifted Ak1995 Mother

Through work I got to chatting with this guy who told me that around 1995 when he was in Amsterdam he got and brought home some ak47 seeds that he says he's been growing ever since. Said he's never seen how it does outdoors, I told him to get me a clone and I'll run it outside. Well, I meet up with him and he handed me a 2ft tall bag? When I got home and opened it and saw this skinny mother basically falling over itself. Dude said just put it outside she's ready...

I was excited to see what was up with her but now I'm left not feeling very confident about what I'm looking at lol. Never seen such a skinny stalk. Currently can't bring inside and take cuttings. About to have some home renovations done and need to make room.

I just don't see how it's going to make it. Honestly just don't think it's worth messing with. Early in the season still, thinking I should just ditch it and replace. Shes way to scraggly for outdoor, I'll be tying her up and messing with all year. Would you guys bail and replace? I dont know why its always so hard to throw a plant away.

Cut some of those lower branches off and bury that stem right in the ground. It's still really early, and the stem will root where you buried it. Still plenty of veg time left to bush that beast out.
Made a bed from all my soil from last season, currently has jalapeno peppers in it but maybe I'll plant it there. How much would you bury? 50%?

That sounds like a lovely spot. Yeah, 1/3 to 1/2. Just be sure to cover the branches you snip off. I grew some AK in 2005. They stretch like crazy. You'll have plenty of time, just be sure to give her plenty of space.

This is what I would do.

If you don't want to dig too deep, you can put it on it's side in a trench. Whatever branches would end up on bottom, just trim off, and leave a few of the new growth shoots sticking above the soil.

Why cant you take cuttings?
You can do it in not much more than a shoe box with a 15w cfl
Fair enough I probably could. Maybe I should. Was just feeling a bit overwhelmed with upcoming renovations, need to get a lot of stuff out of the house and in storage. Bailing on my veg tent to make room, space is limited for the next 2-3 weeks. Part of why I was thinking about replacing this lady, due to bailing on veg tent and tossing plants. Shoebox is small enough tho!

I'd definitely take at least 4 cuttings.
If it's genuine, it would be a damn shame to lose her, plus you'd probably end up with a better plant than the one you've got
