decided to try out one of my sweet mango freebies from ghs to see what an auto is like

as of now it is germinated but not above soil yet

i placed the seed in soil 2 days ago and accidently watered it out and found it had cracked so i replanted

right now its in a jiffy pot (one of the ones that looks like an ice cube tray sorta)

its getting water that is between 6.5 -7 ph

and its medium is one part sphagnum/peat moss to one part vermiculite.

my lighting will be a 2ft hydrofarm t5 lightfixture + 3 cfls:

(1 ,200w equivalent, 55w 2700k bulb(3860 lumens),,,,

1 ,200w equivalent, 40w 2700k bulb (2650 lumens),,,,

and 1 ,200w equivalent, 42w 6500k bulb (2800 lumens)).

once the plant gets its first set or two of real leaves i plan on watering it with this tea i started bubbling today:

it is roughly a gallon of water + 2 tsps of buffalo compost , 2 tbsp of earth worm castings , a half teaspoon of jamaican bat guano ,
1/2 teaspoon of blood meal

and right before i water i think i will add 5ml of nitrozime marine algae extract(0-4-4)

i m hoping that this wont hurt the seedling since the medium it is in now has no fertilizer or anything in it now and maybe this would give it some food

i will also be using this on my tomatos and lettuce plants because i plan to use it once then use norm water again and start anouther batch of this tea again with a little more nutrients/additives and probly eventually cut out the blood meal and i also have some happy frog steamed bone meal i was thinking of adding in slowly as the plant gets older. hopefully will be able to get a cord so i can upload some pics once thiings get going.

just looking for input on my setup

note: i have 2 small fans i will try setting up as ventilation but right now with the lights on the temps stay between 75-90 and humidity at 42% my tent is like 2x4x5

..my tomatos and lettuce will be in the same tent but they will be lower then my mango because soon i plan on putting it in a 13in x 10in octogon pot i picked up for its life span

still looking about the same as the other day , think it may have had too much water so just been letting the soil dry out and hoping that was the problem the tiniest example of a first set of true leaves is still green but the water leaves are yellow and maybe a little purpleish red and they are folded over the first set of true leaves temp has been between 70 absolute lowest and caught it at 95 once for the highest mostly between 75 and 80 tho

anyone experience any problems like this before?

seedling seems to be stunted?

light has been on 18-6 since seedling came above ground

Anyone ever grow any DP think different, or Barnies mammoth blue ??? These are the ones Ive been dying to get but havent found anyone thats posted anything on them other than their at around 31 days, & then hear nothing.

Just a random comment..do you use those jiffy pots all the time? Those things gave me nothing but trouble in my past grow attempts...killed so many seedlings. They dried out way to fast for my liking.

yeah(either those or jiffy pucks) but i havent had many succesful grows but i havent made any real(real = semi good lights, non bag seed, somewhat good soil and additives) attempts id say until now i figured they would work fine? mine stay pretty wet actually maybe to wet for the sprouts liking?

i know that everyone says u should start autos in their final bucket /bag /container but i did not know that until after i started mine unfortunately ..

what would you suggest other then those for young photoperiod plants??

I havent been back into this very long, but even back in the old days we didnt have those jiffy pots & just put them in the ground & did just fine. This time I have tried alot of these new fangled things & found that their not as good as the old way of just putting them right in the ground, I think I may have had only about 3 out of 12 or so that made it using the jiffy pots. Or maybe Im just getting lucky doing it old school ???

these ones gotta be inside tho lol i could just cover bottumn of my tent with soil but that would be a hell of a mess to clean out

but when i do mine outdoors they will all be going in the ground or in something that allows it to reach the ground if it wants to do so but prob start in plastic cups inside first

here is some pictures of my sprout since about 24 hours ago i think i got it headed in the right direction again
im not exactly sure exactly what happened but what i did different between now and when i first noticed it looking yellowish and purply dieing colors:

i put in a heater with a thermostat set at 80

i let the soil dry out then misted it lightly because the sprout had no hold at all and would wash away when i watered it

i moved the lights away from the plant a little and i bought a heat mat to replace the heater
i also gave it a little squirt of some tea i made somewere inbetween all that/

does anyone know what is wrong with it??

garden 003.jpggarden 004.jpggarden 002.jpggarden 001.jpg sorry for the bad pics dont have the greatest camera

any ideas would be appreciated
