i have been meaning to try this strain for a while, one thing and another has led me to put it off, but now it's on!

dst the creator of the strain who is the main guy at breeders boutique (and the creator of the awesome 600 club on rollitup) gave me the beans a few months ago to try as a tester. i don't think they are currently for sale so i think we are still in the "testing" phase .

a quick history on the strain:

dog kush X deep blue

the DOG

the dog is a legendary strain on rollitup, you will find many grow journals from reputed growers who will all agree that the dog certainly isn't your average "og" strain.

there are a few phenos floating around but the two i have grown were very similar to each other. they both grew vertically and had very little side branching but once topped they required no extra attention, multiple main colas (small but heavvvyyyyy) form and they have very stong woody branches typical of a lot of kush strains, they can support themselves without the need to scrog or even stake. the flowers are incredibly dense ( the densest i have seen) the resin glands are very small but are in great number so the overall appearance of the buds is silver and the smell is unmistakeable ( fuel, rubber, sage, old sweat, oranges and gin and tonic, lol) just some of the smells you may pick up on in this complex bouquet.

the affect is pretty narcotic, i have taken it at 9 weeks and also at 11 with pretty similar consequences, you will be heavily stoned in, sleepy and forgetful, certainly not daytime weed. the yield always looks less than it is, as i said earlier the density is unlike that i have seen elsewhere if you look at an oz of dog buds you will think it looks more like a half.

DEEP BLUE AND DOG

the deep blue is more of a skunk hybrid, i'm fairly certain there is a cheese cross in there somewhere, the two phenos i have grown where pretty similar in smell but were quite different in every other aspect.

DEEP BLUE

one grew like a typical skunk plant with christmas tree shape and a fruity/ cheesey smell, the other was a stout indica with no side branching and a grapey smell/flavour. i decided that i preferred the less indica dom plant simply because it was an excellent yielder and had maybe better bag appeal (opinion basically people here don't like purp strains very much).

the more sativa leaning pheno finishes in 7-9 weeks and has a very complex aroma and taste ( BLACKCURRANTS, sour milk, liquorice, BLACKCURRANTS, mint and did i say BLACKCURRANTS!!) if anybody has ever tried ribena undiluted you will have an idea of how powerful the flavour really is. the buds aren't nearly as dense as the dog but were still pretty heavy and they always form nice big colas.

it is a really interesting hybrid high, very instant slap in the face that slowly creeps into your head and slips down your spine leaving you stuck to the spot. you can smoke one or two hits in the daytime but you will not be able to smoke this stuff all day.

what i'm hoping for in this strain is a good mixture of what i like about both strains. i would like to get some of that fruity aroma and taste into the dog whilst maybe forming bigger buds but keeping the dogs density, branching and resin content, ultimately ending up with something that is ready in 8 weeks that really is the dogs bollocks.

now to pop those beans.

Link in sig ;-)

I'll get some pics up. My last thread "whodat back at it" has a full cycle of BP for you to gawk at. I'll get you some pics here though.

Edit: yeah the "search latest threads" (and posts) option doesn't work anymore and that makes me sad. I like spying on people :-(

Looking forward to see what you do with the grow ghb!!!

My experience with the Blue Pit is that there are a few different phenos (as you would imagine with so many genes in the mix). In general I think you get a mix of the skunky fruity and cheeseyness with a much larger yield, then you get these amazingly nice, very sweet kush tasting phenos, which are about mid range in yield from what I saw. I kept 3 Blue Pits (2males and a female) of the F1's that I liked. One of the males is a real sat leaning in structure and flowering, while the other is far more indica dominant and much more like the female which is really indi dom. She has quite a lot of foliage as well so also reminds me of the Livers, which I think sneaks through into the sweetness of it. Super dense and super sweet is the way forward for me with it:)

well i just checked on the pips (exactly 48 hours later) and 15 have germinated but not raised their heads fully, i put a small cheese plant in the tent and turned the light on.

i'll check back in another two days and i expect to see them all above ground and i hope to see some leaves.

of course it is, don't be shy!.

who's bp did you try? have you actually got to sit in the stinky room?!?!

i can't wait to see what i end up with
i dont no ghb a good friend of mine grew her out and sorted me about 5g of the finished bud, smell was very lemony but with other smells too, but taste omg so many different flavours fruity, kushy, sweet, lemony to name a few and not to mention it rocked my world stonedwise.

i now have some bluepit seeds and carnt wait to get them growing, but think i may have PM in my current op so holding back before i start them off.

as D no's im not one for praise lol but that bluepit really is a strain and half, all ive grown in years is exodus cheese, pyschosis and livers/blues so i think i no a good weed and that bp is a bloody good weed, also my friend got real good weight from her.

well if i didn't already have 20 of them i would be trying to buy them now lol.

great to hear, everybody has said good things bout it so i'm even more eager now. it's a shame i won't be smoking any for a long time as i have nowhere to flower them at the min, gonna veg them into trees and do a nice pr0n grow for the lads i think.

Just wanted to share the selected pheno that I will run with for the Blue Pits. This girl gives off very similar looking nugs to Method2mymadness's recent harvest, they look like a nice combo of tight kush buds and skunk/clone only colour and also solidness to them (also like the Deep Blue - always solid nugs). Which you would expect given the dog produces nugs like little rocks, and the clone only's also have a tendency to produce very hard buds. It has sweetness, it has kush earthy, coffee, lemon, and this rings through true in the smoke which provides little undertones of the clone only's coming through (Livers and Psychosis). I am in discussion with someone who will hopefully run a full room for the Cup this year.
Shexy toight, yesh!

Peace, DST

they all seem to have sprouted, one is really lagging behind but it has split it's shell, another is just breaking ground.

i lowered the light, took the lid off the propagator and propped it up on upturned pots to prevent them from stretching any further.

i plan to transplant them tomorrow into some coco and then the fun begins.
