Getting stem root DWC

Getting stem root where the lower stem weaken's and gets smaller. Using rock wool and sometimes its turning green when it starts yellow. This happens in veg only under a 200W CFL and when the seed is about 3 weeks old.

Things I'm doing:
-Its not from water level being too high.
-Could be from covering up the net cup w/reflective mylar? I could a hole as big as a quarter so the seed can grow up through it. I do this so light doesn't leak through net cup and get into my rez.
-Only putting 1-2 layers of stones in the bottom of net cup..

Whats doing this??

I had it on a huge plant my last run, got a black ring around the crown (base) of the stem it eventually got mushy and ate into it pretty deep and then it eventually just went away (lucky I guess). But the stock was very large, got a huge knuckle above the mush ring and finished out flower. Unfortunately it’s a pathogen and is inside your plant.

Also could be a borer insect, but ether way if the plant is young it more than likely won’t recover. My plant was big and aged so it could fight it off I guess.

I just wanted to know should I be putting another layer of stones on the bottom of the net cup or something else??

They do turn green over time ,when exposed to light ,I always cover mind with hydroton ,I use big net cups fits big buckets.kind of tough to help when your doing it blind

Stem rot definitely a advanced form of root rot. Algae is a good sign root rot (pythium) is can be around. Had algae suffocate my roots, it will work it’s way all in your system. If you have root rot, get a healthy dose of h202 at 5 ml per gallon ( for full grown adult) and was the roots a couple times a week. If you see foaming then it’s working.

Most definitely does happen, 100%. Ive had it too. I had it from "trenching" outdoors. Sometimes shit happens.
