Getting Rid Of Snails ?

I've captured an image with a snail going down from a plant, wasn't hungry anymore !!

How can they be avoided ?

I thought about a ring of salt around the main stem, is it dangerous for the plant ? (the salt..)

Put a copper wire or band around your pot and they will not cross it.

But isn't salt an easier solution ? it's in the kitchen

Salt is not good for the soil. Copper tape or ring much better. Or just build a moat with constant boiling water or lots of toads.

Too much salt in your soil will cause more plant problems than snails.

Snails and slugs can and usually will cross a thin copper barrier (1"-2"), so wire is unlikely

When useing copper make sure to keep it brite and clean , with nothing touching the plants so they cant make their way around the copper

Slugo works well to it constipates them to death

sand will do same thing as salt but sand must be dry,

Snails or slugs will arch over copper wire. You want a thick barrier. I dont have to deal with snails or slugs though. I literally haven't seen a snail or slug in over a year. Just frogs and lizards everywhere keeping grasshoppers and moths away from the crops.

maybe if I make the salt ring around the plant far away from the plant.. so when the plant is water, the water doesn't get to the salt... I think that's the best that can be done here ?

A bowl/dish with beer also does the trick, they will be attracted to the beer and drown inside the bowl.. its the most humane way to kill snails since they all die drunk.

If salt gets down into your roots your plant will be dead. No ifs ands or buts. I've had first hand experience with it.

The best advice here is using beer as bait. They will crawl in, get drunk and die.

Put out a pie tin with 3/4" of beer. They love it, they'll drown.

Deadline is the BOMB. The snails in my yard have certain areas that they prefer. A couple times a year I surround them with a thin line of Deadline. The following morning it looks like Normandy beach the morning after D-day.

but this is good only for maybe 1 day.. the alcohol disappears
