Getting Ready to Grow,but..

ok so i've been reading and watchin a lot of stuff on the web bout growing. i noticed, a lil to late, that everyone uses 1/2 pint jars. i just bought a case of 12 one pint mason jars, bout 8bucks. will these be beter or worse? if u use 1 cup brf,1 cup h2o,and 2 cups verm for five 1/2 pints....then i just double it for 5 one pint jars,right?? or maybe ill just try 2-3 jars first so i can get the hang of it.

also i've got a pet reptile who got big real fast,haha...so i have extra lights,timers, temp and humidity gauges, i can use for my grow. i also have a 65gallon tank that she grew out of....can i use the tank as my fruiting chamber? screen top,sliding glass front doors. i dont wanna drill into it. i know i can buy some rubbermaid tubs and drill, just wondering if i can use this old tank, if not a few bucks on some tubs is not a big deal at all. thanks for any help in advance..trying to get all my supplies ready

my fruiting chamber doesn't have any holes I just have to fan it all the time, and I used pint jars, I only fill them three quarters of the way then top off with dry vermiculite to act as filter sorta for contams works great.

Edit: keep your humidity high as you can between 93 to 100% is were mine stays
also the more jars you do the more likely you will succed some jars will get contams more than likely so the more jars the better

2parts verm
1parts water
1parts brown rice flour

1pint will work just going to take longer to colonize!! enjo. i miss mushroom growing

I like useing wiskey tumblers with a lid made from tinfoil and rubber bands, and ventilation through some micropore tape stuck on top.
It goes realy fast, but generaly I do bulk grows.

thanks for the advice folks. alsmost got all my supplies, just got my micropore tape. sh*t ive even been taking notes and writing a lot of stuff down..haha im a lil chemist. na jsut messing,but some of u guys really are. keep the info coming,im sure there's other here with ques. and i'll probably have more quest.

make sur you buy a dehydrator!! Dont NOT SKIMP ON A DEHYDRATOR!!

If you have a small grow, the inside of your PC will dry em out well.

dehydrator for what after ive picked them, and got to dry'em? i was thinkin of boiling the jars(maybe like 4-5 jars)....gotta check some stores for prices on pc though. dont know where ima order from yet,maybe ralph,or spore101

lol check secondhand adds, you want a nice big one, like 7 to 12 litres.

I dont even use dehydrator I dry them under big box fan on high in a spagetti strainer takes about a day and a half and can dry as many as I can get just fine, but if your going to have alot then dehydrator may be nessecary

Hey man, wondering what strain your growing, im about to start to and im using 1 pint jars as well. Im just doubling the mixture they say in pf tek. also where can u get micropore tape?

micro pore tape is medical tape so maybe like a pharmacy or like the band aid aisle imnot sure I dont use it, ive grown two strains so far pes hawaii and pf classic, about to start some golden teachers

Don't be fooled by pictures like that, never going to happen unless you make an isolate culture... i.e. a tray of clones....



Yes, you should find micropore at the pharmacy, i've pretty much always been alergic to regular plaster, so I tend to have some of this stuff in the house.
My biggest cambo yet.

o and those pictures are from a guy who started with prints and put them on the tray method. I dont know how to do the tray method, im about to start my first grow and the cake pf tek seemed easiest.

pf is a waste of time and resources.
next time innoculate some grains like popcorn, rye or wild bird seed, and once its all white distribute in a tray with a nice medium like horse pooh.
Its the shit that makes it legit.

got any links to a more descriptive way to do the tray?
