Getting ready for 1st grow

Im not new to growing but I am new to growing indoors. I need some help on which path to take. My goal is to grow about 5-6 OZ of each plant and I'm looking to grow about 3-4 plants. I currently live in a 4 person apartment and me and another roomy are leaving this summer to a two person. The closet space isn't very ideal for growing either its like a 4L x 2.5W space. Although my friend grew in a closet in that space with a 400W with 6 plants and got about 5-6OZ per plant.

The new place im moving to also has its owning bathroom for each and im deciding to just buy a 3x3 homebox and put in the bathroom or in my room. I want a continuous grow something like, vegging 3 plants under a CFL and then moving them into the homebox to flower with 400HPS. Will a CFL manage or will I have to get like a 150wat MH for the vegging, if I wanted to take this route..

My other plan was to just buy all female seeds grow 3-4 under the 400MH/HPS the whole time, but im trying to save electricty bill (ALTHOUGH its not that big of a deal because I can afford it) I just want to her from you guys which route would be better to do. Thanks!

First of all, I wouldn't recommend growing in an apartment at all... Unless you are 100% confident you can mask the smell the entire growing process.. I don't think it's worth the risk, but ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do.. right? .... As long as you can afford the bill, that's a plus for you... Just make sure you pay it on time each month, NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Anyways.. you can veg w/ CFL's, but for 3 plants you're probably going to need quite a few of them... the 400 watt MH/HPS would be a better option, as long as you install the proper exhaust/intake to keep the box within optimal temperature/humidity ranges for the plants... But if you're wanting to cut back on electricity some, you might be better off going the CFL route... I'd recommened MH/HPS all the way...

It's possible to produce 5-6 oz per plant, but I wouldn't be expecting that with your first indoor grow... If you need that much, look for a strain that produces a higher yield... Read up on some of the techniques used to increase your yield (SOG, LST, Topping, etc...) You can find good information about all of these in the FAQ section...

Whatever you choose to do, be smart, and good luck to ya'!!!

You would be able to grow in a bubbleponics (deep water culture) system in your apartment. They are very easy to build or fairly inexpensive to purchase. and you can get amazing results, as well as an excellent finished product.
All you will need is: hydroton, net pots, a dark rubbermaid container, rockwool, a fishtank airpump (the more air the better), an airstone, (or hose plugged at one end with pin holes in it), and some nutrients.
If you need to know more about bubbleponics feel free to send me a message.

Well I am pretty confident on the smell because ill be using a filter etc and im going to be growing Super Lemon Haze, and ive heard from reviews that it doesn't even smell bad, just smells like fruit, but im not relying on that and will be building/purchasing filter and other stuff to mask the smell. I'll be using foxfarm nutes, like I have before for my ourdoors etc.. I'll be new at topping the plant and stuff, but alright 400W it is. Im not to fond of hydro just yet, I like the old style of soil :) maybe i'll look more into it I suppose. Thanks for all the info.

After reading some DWC grows im really really interested in it! Im going to search the forums some more about it but marijuananation did you do DWC?
My friend is telling me if you want to do DWC just grow 3-4 with 250MH/HPS instead of soil with 400HPS/MH what do u guys think? I just want to yield about 5-6 oz total.

Sorry about the response time.
I have started my first DWC Grow !!
My journal is below.
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/278797-first-time-grow-1-killer.html
Results are excellent (aside from the initial PH imbalance when I first transfered the plant into the new resevoir for flower).
She is 60 days old today alot of budsites (28" tall before LST) and she's been Topped or Pinched 2 weeks before she went into flower 4 days ago.
I also incorporated LST (Low Stress Training one day after she went into flower) All Using a 150 WATT HPS.
Now that she is in flower I am using 2 x 150 WATT HPS (SUNSYSTEMS)
Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Grow during VEG and Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Bloom during the flowering stage.
(No other additives, aside from vinegar to lower the PH).
Here are some pictures of my roots, the stock, the budsites, and one of the flowers forming.

That is a paint stick beside the stock if you were wondering (only to show girth of the stock)

Below you can see alot of the bud sites that have formed I am trying to keep them all even by LST.

As you can see below the flowers are forming hairs 4 days into flowering and starting to develope the actual bud already.

I hope this helps you on your decision making.
Anything else just give me a shout. (I'm no expert, but I'm no dummy either)
Ciao.
