Getting into Canada?

I have a 12 year old MJ felony and was wondering if it is possible to get into Canada these days.
I read that they will not let you in but, I am doubting they run everyone's record at the border.
Can anyone confirm my thinking that it would be worth the try. Thanks in advance.

Either Sarnia or the bridge. Whatever one I would have the best chance at I suppose. I would probably try both in the
same day if I had to. Thanks

sarnia is the worst boarder to cross the easiest one is sault ontario/sault michigan fyi
either way they will most likely search the vehicle

Do you have a passport? They will no longer let you cross if you do not. They will know. Went to a bachelor party their 2 years ago. One person had a pending DUI charge, they would not let him in. They also searched both vehicles.

this is untrue you can get into canada with a Nexus Card which is considerably cheaper than a passport however getting BACK INTO USA would be your biggest issue.
it is the AMERICANS who MADE the law that travellers NOW NEED their passports but the one at sault michigan/sault ontario will allow a nexus card

Again i cant stress the sault michi/ontario boarder enough because both towns are small we have constant amount of travelers going there and back to the bars, ect its very easy to get across infact i have gotten across without a nexus and a passport to go to a concert i just brought my birth certificate

Thanks I am trying to go see a show on Oct. 2 in Toronto. Is the Detroit bridge hard to get through? I have no problem
with getting searched, I can pull off the sweet, law abiding and innocent look when I try.

i realize sault is like 8 hours from toronto but seriously go through that boarder , you will get in, i can almost promise it.
because both towns are small the patrol there still have that "small town" charm feeling to it, and they are very nice, everyone says so plus less wait time on the bridge

This is also untrue, it's the American government (Not AMERICANS) get your facts straight!

Not sure. I had a DUI about 8 years ago also and have heard that you can't get in with that. I was dating a chick from Canada a few years ago, so we went through at Detroit to see if it was true. They let me in, but not sure they actually ran my info...So no real help other then I have heard they aren't supposed to let you in. I don't think I would risk trying to fly in somewhere, but a shorter road trip is worth a shot. Don't look suspicious when you are crossing (Like don't smoke a J right before you get to the border)

I am sure you can you a Nexus card. That is something that I am unfamiliar with. I do go to Canada at least twice a year. You are correct these are US rules. I tried to cross after the rule changed with a Birth Certificate. That was allowed for 1 year after the change. Unless it has changed since the first of this year, a Birth Certificate will not work.
Either way, you have a passport so I think you will be just fine. Also if I remember correctly he wasnt allowed to cross due to the DUI being pending, not because of the charge.
