Getting a parter(I know, I know)

Certain circumstances have come to my attention that make growing at my place...not a very good idea. I still want to grow because I like growing and growing my own cannabis is much cheaper than buying it from a dealer. That being said, I know a dealer by business and he's one of my friend's cousin. Cool guy I guess as far as dealers go. He's currently gorilla growing 20 plants he intends to make mids out of. He has never grown before. Here's what I'm thinking:

Offer to grow for him and split the weed 50/50 for as long as I grow. He chooses w/e strain he wants and buys(or at least pays for most of) the equipment I need based on the number of plants he wants to grow. Down the line if either of us wants to leave he takes the equipment he bought and grows on his own or w/e.

All this is hypothetical as I haven't actually discussed this with him before. When we talked about my growing for him a few months ago, he did say he would pay for everything I needed. I declined as I wanted to get a grow or 2 under my belt first.

What I'd like to know is in the chance he runs into some legal trouble what trouble could I possibly have to deal with? The only thing I plan on doing is growing the plants. Not moving anything, not selling anything, just growing in one location. He's been doing this for awhile so I don't think he's likely to get caught, but I'd like to cover all my bases.

Trying to weigh the pros and cons if he agrees to my terms. Thanks.

I don't know what country ur in dude & also i'm no legal expert, but i'd guess that wherever u are, if ur mate gets busted & they consequently find ur grow then ur likely gonna be facing the same charges as he is. You may be acknowledged as having a lesser role in the operation but i'm pretty sure u'd still facing the same charges of cultivation with intent to supply & being involved in supply of a controlled substance. Your lesser role & not being involved in the actual dealing may not even matter if the police/courts decide to consider you, ur mate (and possibly whoever else he "works" with) all as part of a "drugs gang" as then u'll likely all receive the same sentence. And even if ur lesser role is taken into account, i'd estimate u'd still receive about 60% of the sentence that ur mate would as main culprit. Or they could even twist it around totally & decide that ur essentially supplying a dealer & hence are "higher up the chain" and so should receive a higher sentence than ur mate. Who really knows till ur standing in that dock what they're gonna do & certainly sentencing changes alot from country to country. (and even from state to state often, it seems)

I'd say going halfs with someone on growing abit of weed always seems like a bad idea to me - unless ur talking about a wholesale 100+ plant operation where there's a logistical need to split time & costs, anything less just seems pointless & also a good reason for mates to start arguing! The initial cost of equipment for growing ur 20 plants would be relatively high i agree, but the thing is if u save up the money urself, then within the first grow it would pay for itself & u'd be on ur way for future. And i also think ur right in saying u wanna get abit of experience under ur belt first too - is a good idea man & is intelligent to wanna know what ur doing instead of just jumping straight in.

It's the old story of is the reward worth the risk & that if u can't do the time then u shouldn't do the crime! Have a browse of ur local newspapers/websites, etc to see if u can find any court records/stories of local people being done for similiar & that'll give u best idea of what u'd be facing. Tho for me, its certainly something that i'd rather read the answer online, etc rather than find the answer out myself for real!

I live in the U.S, in a non-med state. Wow...Looked at February through june and almost every week they bust at least 1 person for possession...One person even got possesion, possesion with intent to distrubute and possession within 1000 feet of a school. Besides that one person though I didn't see any intent to distribute or cultivation or any other felony related drug crimes. The college campus is a tobacco free and drug free zone, people still smoke both though so the cops are twice as to come up to you since both are banned.

Besides the high initial costs I also lack the space to grow more than 2-3 medium sized plants. Growing anymore would require me to move and I've got a pretty nice deal here. I pay one flat rate and I get electricity, cable, water and internet for free. Well it's included I guess, but the rent never changes.

I don't think getting a partner would be a good idea now, but I think I'll still give him a call and see what we can do. Just to see.

EDIT: Besides the one ITD charge in june there hasn't been another in at least 2 years. All others have been possession.

Loose lips sink ships. Don't do it. There are a million ways for it all to go badly, and very few ways for it to work out. I've never seen it work out, ever. It's hard enough with a legal arrangement in a MMJ State as it is, let alone when all parties are breaking the law.

If the guy is careful and trustworthy then splitting the production from the distribution is a good move.. 50/50 is a pretty generous offer for somebody who really assumes most of the risk by growing in their place.. Smart dealers do it stealthily on the down-low..

once ther is two of u doing it and you dont share the same place its conspiracy.....not good....but i need to no why at the beginning u say he is doin a gorilla grow ,,and hes never grown before,,,,then at the end u say he has done this lots,,,can u clear that up...?...oh and if he gets caught ...he will rat!
