Hey everyone! I got a job interview coming and they said if you are hired you will be given a drug test. I'm MM patient but I'm afraid to take my medicine for fear I won't get the job. Does anyone know how California corps view MM and how am I to deal with this? Would it be sensable to say I'm MM patient before I take the test? I really want this job and any help would be so appreciated. Someone tell me what you would do. And sorry if I sound stupid here, I haven't had my meds since yesterday uggggggg.
Thanks ahead of time. Cat:?

I would refrain, as companies consider it illegal and most would not hire on a failed test. Take a couple weeks off the herb and you should be OK.

I know in Canada once you get and pass a drug test on the rigs or pipeline you dont have to have another drug test until an incident happens ex. rolling a rock truck, breaking your finger in pinch points when fitting pipe.

So ya i would agree with topspin and lay off for a couple weeks and it also wouldnt hurt to go to your weed store and get a detox for safe measure.... Kinda sounds like your a heavy user.

Thanks but can some of you who are not strangers give me some details? I'm already obstaining and I'm gonna do the niacin routine and water dilution thing, but I'm more interested if anyone knows any stats or personal experience with California employers and their attitude with MM patients being hired. Thanks again.

whether or not you have your card it does not matter, a company can fire or not hire you for any reason as long as they are not discriminating on sex, race, religion etc... medical marijuana does not fall under federal law for discrimination of disease or medication this question has been covered thousands of times if you just google it, believe me i tried this with att wireless and best buy two of the largest companies in CA and they dont care, besides the only way it could work is if you took the test failed and then brought suit against that company, if you still don't believe me or the others just google it, just dont smoke for like 2 weeks and drink lotsa water and exercise works every time i have to test and blaze at least a gram every day and have passed there ya go buddy

some companies accept it ,most do not...it's up to the company, have a friend call and see if they are cool with it ,like he's a new applicant ,and take it from there

All companies reserve the right to not hire individuals who use marijuana for any purpose. It doesn't matter if you a medical patient or not.

Companies are also starting to not hire individuals who smoke tobacco. Perfectly legal for them to do so because it costs them extra money for healthcare and such.

I hold a MMAR and I work on the rigs. I get tested every 2 months my employer legally cannot fire me for my medical marijuana use. The states is a whole other story

If you have a prescription it's legal. Just like Oxycodon, or Morphine, etc..
A friend of mine failed his piss test the doctor called to notify him and asked "Is there any medicinal reason for marijuana to be in your system?"

I'm sure some companies may frown on this but you can't be singled out for this. Definitely illegal to discriminate based on a prescription.

Maybe this is only the case in Canada, I don't know for sure.

Thank you everyone. This is all good info. I googled drug test, cal law re drug tests, etc. etc. and the info wasn't half as informative as you folks. Thanks and wish me luck.

In the us even liberal Cali says it's ok for a company to fire you for positive mj test. I'd abstain and see if they test after your hired.

maybe in Can, but definitely not here. I believe that guy who went all the way to the Oregon Supreme Court over this very topic (door greeter at a walmart, had mmj). he failed a test, was fired, went to court, appealed, and then in the end the supreme court ruled that any company can reserve the right to not higher said individuals, even if the law says they are legally allowed to medicate. what they are basically saying is, its not law, its choice, and the employer has it. here is a link to an article talking about it.
