Hey folks,


Got a Northern lights plants and a Purple Kush plant here. Also got two more but I focused on these two. I switched em to 12/12 about 8 1/2 weeks ago, so I would think the time would be drawing near. I have a 10x jeweller's loupe magnifying glass that kinda allows me to see the trichs, but I can't tell what color they are. Is it possible that they could all be totally clear at this point, still? I think maybe the magnification just isn't powerful enough to differentiate colors. Anyway, flowered under 400w HPS plus supplemental CFL's. Here's the pics, let me know what you guys think. How are they lookin? How much longer until I should begin chopping parts off? Thanks for lookiin!



















This gives a good idea of the size of the many small buds all over the plant. I haven't counted em but there's tons of buds at least this size, and this photo doesn't capture the buds strechting further down this stem.

Here's some of the KUSH:











I put in some comparison objects, but to give you a better idea, the N.L. got to be over 4 feet, and Purple Kush are both about 2.5 feet. They're raised up a lot though. 5 gal buckets. LST'd the kush plants for a while at least, so they have lots of medium sized colas, whereas the NL was left as is... Thanks in advance for comments/advice.

cool, thanks for checkin em out. the Northern Lights I only vegged for about 4 weeks tops, but she grew like crazy, was 20 inches when I flowered her. The purple kush was more like 6 weeks veg. I started both under fluorescents, then switched to 400w metal halide then switched to the HPS for flowering. My plants ended up really big (got a huge sativa, hazeXskunk, in the back there you can see in a couple pics) so I added a bunch of high powered and medium power CFLs around all the plants, which seemed to help. I just used organic molasses, big bloom from fox farm, and Neptune's Harvest fish and seaweed combo, so this was all organic. Thanks again man!

yeah this is my first real grow. I grew a plant under CFL's 5 years ago, in high school, that yielded like an eighth, maybe. But I didn't do any research, and got everything for free. I also grew one plant outside in a 5 gallon bucket a few years ago and it yielded like a half ounce. So I have a tiny bit of experience. But this is the first time I've gotten decent equipment and tried to do this for real. So I'm pretty satisfied with how they've turned out. That said, I'm pretty sure the vet's could've doubled my yields. they usually have bigger lights thouh... good luck to both of you on your grows, I"m sure they'll grow great. Just listen to your plants and provide for their needs and they will reward you!

Plants look awesome. Some of hairiest i've seen :P Judging by hairs it looks pretty ready. Some people say 70% amber 30% white hairs. Only way for sure is to check trichs though. as person says above- buy miniscope.

yeah i guess I'll have to shell out the 12 bucks. Might as well be sure, so after I chop I'm not wondering if I could've gotten more or better budd...

so now for the dreaded question,

anybody wanna throw out some guesses as far as yield? I don't really care as this is just for fun and personal stash. But it's still exciting somehow. I'm hopin to pull down about 2 zips a plant, but that might be optimistic for a first grow....

Plus rep for close guesses, in a couple weeks of course!

75 g. total . Make sure you read up on proper drying and curing. Looks like you'll have a beautiful harvest.

So don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but you guys were all wrong!! Happily! I pulled these plants down over a week ago, had them drying in a dark closet with 68-70 degree temps and 43% humidity, dried em 5-6 days til they were real crispy, and weighed em out before stuffing them in 1/2 gallon mason jar. The totals?

Purple Kush plant: 94.5 grams (3 ozs and 5 eighths)

Northern Lights Plant: 85.1 grams (just over 3 zips).

The northern Lights plant had more seeds than I expected (about 150 total throughout the plant but I carefully removed the vast majority of these before weighing). The buds look amazing! Each plant completely filled a 1/2 gallon mason jar to the point of being almost stuffed, but I can still take a skewer and stir things around when I air em out each day. Thanks again for the advice on these plants, I couldnta done it without RIU! BTW, The kush I harvested in two stages, once at about 66 days I think and again at like 74 days I think. The Northern Lights I just harvested all at once at 74 days. I have another Kush that took longer and a Sativa Haze that are still waiting; the kush is almost over done but I can't harvest it until my relatives leave tomorrow, too stinky! It's now been 11.5 weeks, so it'll be really heavy!
