Right ok,dont fuck about with your seeds at this stage, too easy to kill them.If youre growing hydro then put them in a rockwool cube,if soil then make a hole in the soil with something-I have a chopstick I use-drop your seed in,lightly cover with soil then place under your light and leave well alone.I know its easier said than done first time around but dont keep opening the rockwool/digging up the seed to
look, just leave it alone. If it dosent sprout after 10 days then you can look.Good luck

Sorry I was gibbering on lol,to answer your question, you germinate seeds in the dark, then whenthey crack you put them in your growing medium under your light

From what I've read germ'ing in Coco is problematic, but I dunno seems like it should work...
...eitherway if its covered by whatever medium, yeah you can leave the light on it; make sure whatever it is doesn't dry out....

oh and all that crap about paper towels, soaking it or whatever is Bullshit, IMO...people will blame bad seeds on anything...
if it were me, seed cost over $10 a pop, a the resultant weed is worth a small fortune; I'm getting rapid rooter plugs....the $10 for a bag of em is cheap insurance

I've germinated in paper towels, plugs, and directly in medium which is what I would recommend. When using the paper towel or shot glass method (which does work) your taking a chance on damaging the tap root. Just put it in the medium, lightly cover, keep moist, and keep light on it, 18-6, 20-4, or 24-0 will all work, although 24-0 seems to sprout faster. Be patient & good luck.

The good thing about germinating in paper towel is you can see if the seed is going to germinate or not,and once the shells cracked and the tap roots out you can then just put it in whatever medium, knowing it will sprout. However,if youre a bit ham fisted, you know,a bit of a klutz, then you can just pop it straight in the dirt.Germinating in a shot glass/paper towel is only 100% needed if the seeds old, most of us here will be planting good, fresh seeds.Good luck
