Germination - what works best for you?

Just been reading that rockwool is actually really bad...although cheap & easy they're bad for the environment, bad for your health & too much pH before treatment. Doesn't sound like it should be used to grow anything at all?

Hey Nutes, are you saying it doesn't matter what method is used as long as the seed is good & water's available? sounds about right to me I think. But would 'optimal' methods not help a bit, for instance germinate a seed that otherwise wouldn't germinate? In any case I thinks the days of rockwool are numbered, they are useful to deter mold in hydroponics & retains water but there's better & friendlier methods available it seems.

Yes, I think if you have a fresh, healthy seed it will pop under all of the above conditions.

I just use sink water but it is spring water none of that city water I soak my seeds in a cup of water for about 12 hours them straight to pro-mix on a heat mat.

What I am saying is I have had 100% germination rate with my grows! I understand about the old seeds. But I have no reason to lie or try to impress anyone in here. And I grow on a micro level. One or two seeds at a time. Just stating what works for me!

Can you link me to some info on this? I use rockwool only because it's what I'm used to, and it works, but would definitely be down for using another method if what you say is true.

Yeah that explains it you get banging out full packs of not so popular strains you will get duds but 1-2 at a time your just lucky so far.

Still lucky it's not like you are the god of cannabis you are a closet grower who pops 1-2 seeds what every 2 months? And if you only grow the flavor of the month your getting fresh beans I usually get 100% on popular lines but 3 packs of Blue Satellite I got only 60% and 1 pack BCBD the Purps 0% but otherwise on average I get 80-100% germination it has nothing to do with the method of germination sometimes you just get a bad seed. I also get runts from time to time but it is all in the numbers while the 1 in 50 pheno will be amazing you can find the 1 in 50 (females of course) that is shit.

Never said anything about being the "The God of Cannabis", My point was that I have had damn near 100% success rate with the germ technique that I use. The original post here was what works best for you! That was my answer to the poster. I'm a little to old to be getting in a pissing contest with someone online I don't know or really care to meet. And yes I am only a closet grower! That closet has provided me with quality meds for quite a few years now. I only grow what I need for my medical issues. I don't care who has the strongest, prettiest, highest yields. Or do I wish to compare my buds to anyone else! It's not a contest buddy! I have found a way to be rid of opioid medication by growing my own medicine! I come to these sites to learn and improve my growing skills. So far so good. I have come a LONG way since 2004! Please don't knock us closet growers. If I lived in a medical state that allows growth by law I am sure I would be growing on a larger scale, but since I live in the uber conservative Midwest where cannabis cultivation is a crime, I have to resort to the closet! Get it!!

Really it was a week ago my god let it go. I also do not live in a medical state and pretty shit state at that but I have these things inside my scrotum called balls I've been growing indoors for 3 years and several outdoor grows before that I'm sure I could pull it off in your state as well. Overgrow the government is the name of the game not just overgrow for me, myself and I that's just being greedy the whole country needs to be legal not just the med states and we can't very well do that if the Mexicans still have a stake in the game. This is no different from alcohol they even had medical alcohol read up on our history its not legal cause of the man making hooch in his bathtub its legal cause it was made in large quantities throughout the country they could not arrest enough producers. So while I don't give a damn about med or closet growers I do not respect them like an outlaw grower who don't give a fuck about the law cause it is our god given right to use this plant. Do you think California really got where they are from a few closet growers? Hell no them fools where/are the biggest producers in our nation. Maybe CO now but who's counting? And you think people you know would not like too partake in your work you hoard for yourself? I'm not talking street value either that helps the Mexicans if they have to pay $20 a gram when they can get at least 3.5 grams Mexican for that.
