well...ive tried several ways of germinating my seeds...shot glass of water, paper towel method, germing straight out of peat pellets. and have have successes as well as failures with all of the above...so here is my question. what techniques do you guys use and to what actual germination success when using your preferred technique?

I have used the same as you and have the best luck with the paper towel routine. I like to put my dish on the DVR for the heat. I get a good 95% germ rate. You have to figure on getting a few crappy seeds over time. I have had the best luck with Greenhouse Seeds. I have germed at least 7 of their strains with all except 1 Kings Kush bean that did not survive even though it germed. I had the worst luck with KC Brains strains with around 1 in 8 that did not germ.

Placing the seeds in a cup of slightly hot water for 24hrs speeds things up. Then throw them in soil the next day or wait until they crack open.

thats usually the method i use as well. do you soak yours in water prior to putting them in the paper towels or just straigh to paper towels right out of the gate? glad to know youve had good luck with greenhouse. that actually what im getting ready to germ next. 4 of their white widow seeds and 2 of their church and 2 of their super lemon haze.

also, how long did your greenhouse seeds take to split and shoot a nice taproot once you put them on the paper towel?

I have found the best method ever recently, well maybe not the best ever, but close. I used pete pellets and set them in a babywipe warmer on top of a few layers of wet paper towel. I had 3 inch sprouts when I checked it 3 days later. Keeps temps about 98 degrees. Had to get inventive when the paper towel technique failed me on my 2 year old seeds.
