Germination seeds problems....

Hi guy,me one more time.Looks like the easy part of growing is the one i have problems...

- I got my seed and i place it in paper towel in a warm place for like 5 days and nothing.
- I was reading that a guy here put them in water cuz is the best way he do it,and i did and nothing.
- Then i place them back again in paper towel in a warm place and nothing.

My source is sending me a 10 new seeds.Now....what should i do ? Whats the best way for germination ?...what im doing wrong ???

different people will tell you different things and am gonna tell you to forget about paper towels there is simply no need for it and i find u just waste a days growth,
first things first mother nature allways works best drop your seed directly into a small pot of soil/compost put it about an inch down and just gently cover over with soil and keep it moist with regular water but dont over wet it, then just keep it under a light 24/0 untill it sprouts then change the time to whatever you want depending on what your growing. i have had much better results this way and found i lost alot of seeds trying paper towel method. the heat from the light will make it jump up outta the soil. another big tip buddy after you get outta seedling stage and you move to a bigger pot put about an inch of sand around your plant this will prevent bugs/gnats getting outta your soil and into your growroom.

the problem I see with the "just drop it in soil" method, is when a seed is a bum seed...when you put a seed in a shot glass of water...it should float...after 12-24 hrs it should sink to the bottom after it absorbs water into the seed. At that point you can take it out and put it between some moist paper towels and in a plastic bag, or just leave it in the shot glass...once you see a root forming then drop it in soil...i've used this method several times and never had issues unless it was a bum seed to begin with ;)

Are you putting the wet paper towel with the seeds inside of a ziploc sandwich bag or anything? Few days ago I germinated 4 seeds by placing them into a wet paper towel, then inside of a airtight ziplock and filled the baggie with air before sealing it. After it's sealed I place it on top of my cable box to absorb the heat that comes from the box. I cover the baggie with a dark towel or whatever and within 24 hours they pop. I do have to check quite often to make sure the towel stays wet, don't want that drying out on you.

i put mine on the radiator mate at about 55-60F temps were my major fuck ups with seeds, but this seems to work in wet paper towels inside a chinky container.

That is exactly what im been doing.

Well You are both correct many different seed starting methods work, however i have found a perfect method for me.

I stopped using soil for germination for a few reasons, one its not consistent and based on the humidity and presence of bugs. and the second reason is its hard as hell to find the seed if its a Dud.

Basicly After losing many seeds to worms I then created a new method for germinating seeds.

Step one Place a rockwool cube in a humidity dome and place on heat pad

step two add water and rockwool conditoner to tray, and alow to run over night.

step three when humidity dome is up to temp place one seed in each cube.

finaly allow cubes to sit and in a bout 2-3 days you will see signs of life once seedlings are standing tall remove domw and keep on low light while in seedling stage

OMG, an inch down???? They will never sprout through that much soil, 1/4" is what you're supposed to plant them. I've tried every way possible and I've done it scientifically, logging each method to see which factors made the biggest difference. The way I have it boiled down to is 100% effective with viable seeds. I put my seeds directly into Rapid Rooters then those go into a domed tray like you use for clones. Add about 1/4" of water to the bottom of the pan and put it on a seed heat mat. The seed heat mat is probably one of the most important items you can have for germinating seeds. After a day or two you will see the seed sprouting down in the hole, then it comes up, puts down roots and within a couple of days you're ready to put it into soil or you can put it in hydro, or if you catch it early, you can gently peel off the Rapid Rooter and take out the seedling but I would not recommend this method because they are so fragile.

I dont know what the problem is with some people, they just have issue's with germination. Looks like your one of them because all i do is this................

  1. Get about 3 paper towels.
  2. Toss in a few seeds between the towels and wet them.
  3. Keep it in a dark warm place about 75 degrees F.
  4. In 2 to 3 day'z your have these.........

temperature temperature temperature temperature temperature temperature

for me thats the only factor you need to really worry about!! forget humitidy pick any method you like, just as long as your temperature is correct and CONSTANT iv popped thousands of seeds usein lots of differing methods !! my personal fav is 2 noraml dinner plates wet paper towles http://en.sensiseeds.com/best-way-to-germinate-seeds/

i personly use a spare room in my house heated with a small electric oil filled radiator, and a digi min max thermometer to regulate things ! i will heat the room up for a day before im goin to pop the seeds to make sure i have the heater set right and the temputer always stays in the range i need !! i will leave the plates i use in the room so there warmed and same with the plain tap water im gunna use ,so everything is the same constant temp !! between 22c to 25c works perfect for me as long as it doesnt go below of above this range you will get 90 to 95 % gemerination on most seeds

and dont forget some seeds take upto a week to pop so just coz only 5 of 10 have poped in first few days dont mean there duds !!
