I started to germinate about 4 seeds about 4 days ago and one of them done sprouted and i have transferred them to soil but the other 3 have not even showed any signs of sprouting. I was wondering if they or just bad seeds or should i wait longer. About how long does is take for seeds to germinate.

It can take up to a week for them to crack. After that it is more than likely they will be dud's.I'd let em germ for 2 weeks just to be safe.Good luck man.

If you're germinating by dropping the seeds into a cup of PH-neutral water and leaving in a dark, cool place, then your beans should sprout before 2 weeks are up.

I have not tried the damp cloth method but I know this is more common and likely just as successful.

You did not specify your germination method.

edit; even beans that don't germinate should at least be dropped into soil for a week or two. You never know. If it hasn't rotted then there's a chance it might kick in. I wouldn't pick that particular plant as a mother, though.

Hey man you should try the Peat moss germination tablets. You can get them at any garden store. All you do is add water let the tablets absorb it and grow then throw your seeds in the little hole about 3mm down and wait. They get the perfect amount of water and then the soil has nutes and benificial bacteria to help them grow. I started using these thing and i get 100 % germ rate they kick ass. If they dont sprout with the paper towel method i recommend this way. Research it online to if you want more info. Good Luck!

i got a 100% germ rate doing this: i layered about 5 squares of paper towel on a small plate. i put the seeds on the paper towels. i layered 2 or 3 more layers of paper towels on top of the seeds. i kept the towel/seed sandwich moist. seeds cracked in a day or 2 for the fastest ones, 3 or 4 days for the slower ones. the longest any took was a week and it was a dud. my friend's mom uses this for her tomatoes and says it works perfectly.
