Hello. I’ve been wasting expensive seeds

I put them in a large shot glass with RO water. They start to crack open then white fuzz grows the next day on them. While still in the water. I washed the glasses even wiped with hydrogen peroxide and then filled with water and tried that way but still same thibg. Please help.

Try again, using a different method:

- Fill a small pot or solo cup with medium
- Sprinkle a bit of water onto the medium, but not to saturation
- Put seed on top of medium, push it down 1/2", and cover the hole
- Sprinkle water every couple of days until the plant sprouts

I’m using dwc will this still work? Usually I put seed in rock wool then aero garden to sprout. Will seed starting soil and doing that method be able to put the roots directly into hydroton for dwc ?

No the white fuzz almost surrounds the whole seed. I’ve gone through 6 awesome strains and they all fell victim. The last most recent time I did the 3 more and wiped the glass with hydrogen peroxide all 3 again did it. I was so damn sad. It’s like 90$ wasted :(

The first 3 when I squeezed them to open wider as a last ditch effort one or two seeds let out a milk substance. Weird right? Should I just use bottled water for seeds??? I need a fool proof way. I’m low on beans now

You mentioned using hydrogen peroxide to wash your glassware, but do you ever try and clean the seed before germinating? I germinate in a damp paper towel in a Ziploc bag without soaking but I've had some seeds turn mushy and milky as well. I assumed they probably rotted, but sometimes i can see a fungal colony growing in the paper towel all around the dead seeds. Lately, I've been soaking seeds for 15m to 30m in water with hydrogen peroxide (~1% H202) to try and avoid any contamination during germination.

Can you start your seeds directly in rock wool and skip the soaking step? The soaking step seems unnecessary if they are going into a damp environment.

What you are describing sounds like a molding or rotting of the seed. If I soak the seeds, I don't do it for more than a few hours to saturate it and then put in a damp but not dripping paper towel between two plates that don't completely seal, allowing O2 to enter. Spek9 also gave another time-proven option. You can also just use the rockwool and mist it once a day in a dark space to keep damp yet allow oxygen to reach it.

I didn’t know the rock wool needed to be in dark when germinating. I’ll try it straight in rock wool and make the aero garden stay lights off.
I pre soak rock wool in ph 6 water for 24hr. I thought I had this down lol
