I have split tested this, and can be quite confident that all the steps I have outlined do make a difference.
It is true that most seedbank seeds are already healthy seeds, however if like me you produce your own seeds then the steps are important.
If you try germinating a diseased seed in the same medium as healthy seeds you run the risk of infecting healthy seeds.
