Germinating straight into soil - question

I'm putting my seeds straight into soil for my germination method...

Is this the correct way of doing it?


Method:
1.Load pot with soil, lightly packed
2. Make half inch holes, pop seeds in(but which way)
3.Soil over top and water lightly

^ Sound good? First grow, only seeds I have, can't fuck this up

If it's you can't afford to fuck it up then use the paper towel method:1, Take a saucer or some other small plate like object with a shallow center depression, 2, take a paper towel or some other absorbant material NOT cotton wool, 3, Place your towel on your saucer then double it over and soak it, 4, open it back up and place your seed/s on the towel, fold the towel back over the seed/s and leave, after this soak it once in the morn and once at night but make sure you drain off the excess water. any questions let me know.

After years of planting my seeds pointy side down, or dimple side up, I tried it the other way around and I must say that I like planting them pointy side up (dimple down) better now. The germinate more naturally it seems. The soil squeezes the shell while the plant pops out meaning you get less spouts coming up with the shells on them. No more scary weed surgery.

I have done both methods, and got 100% germination both times. There are no saucers with towels and plastic wrap in the wild! I was weary because transferring the little bastards after they sprout could damage the tap root if you aren't careful.

Cheers for your reply man, I've heard of that method but doesn't that method harm the taproot's little hairs and could even fuckup the plant in later life. If I can't find anymore info on straight to soil germination then I will just do the paper towel method ... I'm just trying to keep it simple...

@Coookinyafoodman - That's another reason why I don't like it, I'm a clumsy stoner... I cut myself so many times building this stealth (not really stealth) growbox, I really don't think I could handle a seeds root system without damaging it in some way..

Yeah I've had that debate too man. It's hard trying to convince ppl that have been doing the same thing for years that another way is possibly better. I took a lot of shit just for hinting at the thought.
