Germinating Roots grew upside down?!? Help

I'm at day 3 and my seeds roots came up instead of growing down into the rockwool. I don't know if I should try and readjust or will that happen by themselves? I have some bad pics because I did not want to use the flash on them.IMAG0237.jpgIMAG0238.jpg Any ideas. I put them in a shot glass and after 24 hours the seeds sank. Then I put them into my incubator

These pics are awful. But, it looks like they are seedlings coming up. The one on the right looks like it's stuck in the hull? The one on the left is just doing its thing. Keep an eye on em, if they don't shed the hull soon, give it a mist and GENTLY remove the hull with tweezers. Don't do anything at all unless you are sure the seedling is going to die without action on your behalf. They are soooo fragile right now.

Should I use tweezers that are cleaned with alcohol? Do I need to put them into a different rockwool? Why did this happen? Next time I'm going to sprout my seedlings first.

Yea. That is the root that is sticking up. I can seed the seed in the hole in the rockwool. Will the route go downwards if I put light on it?

Roots always grow down, thats just what they do.. Are you sure its the roots and not the stem bending as its coming up?

Like I said.. that's the stem.
This is my first attempt. So I'm a noob. I just thought the stem grows up with the seed casing and not the other way around. So the routes will sprout out of the seed that is in the hole? So how do you tell the difference between the root and the stem?

I still think that is definitely the root and not the stem. This is the only thing coming out of the seed. I watched many videos and everyone says it's the root that comes out not the stem. So I think I'm just going to take them out and re-adjust them so they can grow the proper way.

It is definitely the root. After germinating you placed the seed into the rock wool root up. Or did you just put the dry seed into the wool before germinating. You are pretty much screwed on those because you probably will not be able to transplant them.

You are wrong. I have actually germed seeds before with paper towel method and planted into soil with the root tip sticking up. The root came up and then they died. Roots cannot grow down if you force it up.

Buddy, those are just fine. I've popped several seeds and that's how they break the surface. First you see the loop-like thing you've got. Then, once the seed shell pops off (give it some time before trying to help the shell off or you could tear things up) the cotyledon leaves will emerge and the seedling will start to straighten out, with the cotyledon leaves opening up.

Any ideas? Plant the damned seed directly into the rockwool and cease and desist with paper towel and swimming parties. Both are unnecessary and wastes of time. And seeds obviously.

Can't tell from your pics but looks like them stem. They don't always pop up with the seed still attached in fact there not suppose to.

If that is indeed your roots they look dead and will prob not grow

This is correct. The root will be the first thing you see come out of the seed, then the stem and finally the cotyledons (baby leaves) will unfold. A lot of times the seed hull will stick and the little leaves can't pop out. That's what I was saying about the tweezers. I don't use alcohol to sterilize my tweezers, I just use em, but it's probably not a bad practice to do so.

Now, am I to understand these are still in the dark? I ask because (this is only a theory, someone will probably dispute it) if there is no light, and the seed wasn't set firmly in the rockwool cube to begin with, I don't believe it impossible for the root to come out the top. If you're certain, and only you can make the call at this point, that is the case...flip it around. Be very gentle with the root, it's incredibly fragile.

If I'm analyzing the photo correctly, the plant on the left is an upside down U shape (n?) and both the end of the taproot, as well as the seed pod, are "under ground" and the stem is up? right? If this were mine I would (did I say gently already?) "help" the seed side up a little. Again, people here will say this is a process that has happened a trillion times in nature and it will figure it out, and they will be right. However, my seedlings never do what the fuck they're supposed to do!! 80% of the time mine do something like what you're seeing, or don't shed the hull like I described earlier. Or shed the hull and keep the fucking membrane holding the leaves together. The "solution" to this is planting deeper, something about the friction of the plant growing through the medium stripping the hull from the tiny plant on its way up. Doesn't work for me. Just help them if they look like they need help, and if you fuck them up...try again. Experience is the best teacher and eventually you will have seen every...eventuality...that can arise.

In the mean time, put a light over those things. I use a fluorescent desk lamp with a generic "plant" bulb in it. They are only going to be under it for the next 3-4 days so I don't do anything fancy.

Finally, use your flash. It's ok. Take better pictures. Keep asking questions. We will help. Happy growing, and best of luck!

I replanted the seeds with tweezers. Now they are looking so much better. I have leaves today! Is it time to put them in light? I think so.
