why did you start in such a big pot?
I'm curious, is starting in a large pot a problem? I knew that transplanting is pretty stressful for grower and weed, so starting in a large pot would eliminate that problem... Is it because you can't maintain constant soil moisture or am I missing something else?

transplanting isnt stressfull on the grower/plant,the plant will flourish a day later when its roots start to go boom, ive had bad results startin in a lg pot,imo the roots of the baby isnt fully developed and it will send the tap as far as it goes till it physically cannot go no more, thats where the gravity and the weight of the soil comes in...they seem to force the root to colapse and giving a 50% survival rating, now if u start them in a smaller pot, then gravity and the soil weight wont restrict the tap root to blossom with roots. when the tap hits lets say a 3oz dixie cup,the tap holds off and sends roots outward at a quicker pace then a bigger pot.plus with the smaller pots, the newly developing roots are able to take in more o2,bc they are not restricted by the weght and they dont have to wait long to get o2 since the little cups will dry a little more, and as the plant gets bigger is when it will suck up more water, and by having it in a bigger pot the little seedling cant absorb all the water giving to keep the soil moist so essentially you will drown your baby aswell, big pots are a no no.

the only advantage to start in a big pot is the lack of mess when transplanting

thats was the point you missed dr can,u just got schooled

and demonds...you have a 50 50 chance of that seedling being a girl,u shouldve germed like 10 seeds to have a better chance for a girl

Yeah I stopped using the bag a day ago now I think.

I also had to help it get out of the husk, and remove that membrane around the leaves.

This Has been a learning experience for me and I probably would have left the
seed to die if I germed 10 seeds and wouldn't have learned much. Plus at the
moment I could only get my hands on one bag seed, once I'm more experienced I'll do more than one seed for a better outcome.

I'm not concerned if it's a male or a female as my objective was to actually
get the plant to survive :)

If it's male i'll probably freeze his pollen.

As for the pot. Good point I should have used a cup first!

Here's another pic so far.

the taproot is showin, put some dirt around it

when u go from a smaller cup to a little bigger the main root will elongate to a certain degree then it will throw thick fiberous roots out and really take off

If u dont mind some constructive critisism.

That pot is very very big for a seedling, and a little wet.

Id recomend to put it in a dixie cup or something.

I was thinking the same thing about the root, I put in some more medium to cover the root.

Critisism is good :)

I want to see how it turns out in that pot first, as it's my first grow.

Next grow I will try different containers, and better resources overall.

the reason u should start small and work your way up is.

Your roots arent going to be able to suck the water sitting at the bottom of the pot for a while.
This can cause mold and its not good.

And another reason 2 start small and work your way up is, everytime u transplant u will have nice nutriented soil, and yours plants will love it.

Just have to make sure your gentle when u transplant, and no stress will be put on them.

Thanks for the info... I'm always stressed when I have to transplant... I'm genuinely clumsy, yet I never mechanically harmed my plants in any way.

Thanks,

I'll definitely start smaller next time, and I never thought about the mold
because the roots could not get the water.

holy shit on a stick, talk about a mind trip... your camera focused on the plant and blured the soil
