Georgia Clay Soil Configuration

I have a location in GA clay that will not allow frequent visits. I dug holes the circumference of a 5 gal bucket but only 1/2 as deep so call it 2-1/2 gallon holes.
In the center I used a post hole digger to dig 2 feet deep to get the tap down there during my long absence.

I want to add some soil to the stuff I dug out. I don't have a lot of free time so I'm thinking of getting some Lowes Jungle Grow and mixing in 10% Wal-Mart bagged manure, 40% of the top clay and 50% Jungle grow with a hand full of rocks in the bottom.

What say you to that?

cut the amount of clay down and throw some 16-16-16 in the mix towards the bottom as well. will it get rained on there? if not you may want to line the hole with plastic or something to help keep the moisture from escaping in your long absences. i would dig the holes quite a bit bigger as well,.

Thank You,

If it rains it will get wet for sure. They will be in the sun most the day.

How much would you say to cut back the clay in the mix. I'll get some 16-16-16 then.
I take it you like the 10% manure in there?

i would cute the clay back quite a bit, in fact i wouldn't use it at all. the manure i would just sprinkle a layer around the top then cover it with dirt to keep the flies off of it.

I see on the clay.
The manure is the Wal-Mart bagged kind so its not too bad.

I'm really new at this so I guess the Jungle Grow is not too shabby for a store bought eh?

Your Local Plant Nursery will have some really awesome Potting & Compost. I love the Lady Bug's Vortex, but I mix my own, so I buy what the Nursery uses. Rabbit manure, a big plus. Microbial life in the clay will soften it up. I use a handful per plant, epson salt, greensand & whole ground cornmeal, mixed in the soil. Then make up liquid seaweed, molasses, Thrive & fish emusion. You can add this every 10 to 14 days. Foliar feed same frequency with seaweed/molasses. No more spider mite problems, or weak branches. Good Luck.
