I just want to thank anyone ahead of time with helping me out. I've been reading for some months this site and another and want to give thanks for all vaulable information on this site. More about my grow;

SOG in soil.

I'm going to have a flowering box roughly 3x7 with a 1000 hps on a mover. I also will have a 2x2 seed/veg box that will have a t5 light germinating/1-2 wks of vegging a few plants at a time.

I wont use clones for the first few months, I just don't want to use space for mothers honestly. But I will experiment with veg clones after I get things rolling a bit. That seems like a viable option.

I guess my reasons for this is that I would like to use my small seed germination/vegging area to fill the 7 foot box section by section so that I could have a continuous harvest. Loading tallest plants to the right and filling it in as the new plants become ready.

I plan on building the boxes the exhaust, filters, fans etc. all of that is in order.

My questions are
1.even though the light is on a mover will my smaller plants suffer?
2.Is 1000 hps good enough? Or could I get away with a smaller lamp? The only reason is the amp usage. Electric bill or privacy I have no problems but amps, well that's a different story.
3.How tall should the box be? I will be growing mainly big bud and some white willow.

Again thanks a lot.

1) The light will get down to the smaller plants, a lot of people say you need to have the light 18 inches above the plant or whatever but the light will get down there especially with a 1000 watter.

2) More power = more flower! You could use anything you want and probably get good results from a 400 or a 600 but your 1K will get you more bud.

3) It all depends on how tall you allow your plants to get, you need to have enough room so the light does not get too hot on the plants. Seeing how you only have a 2 foot wide section you may want to only grow a row of 1-2 plants x 7. I like to give my plants at least 1 square foot of growing space, so 5 feet would be ok but 6-7 feet would be even better.

Good luck bro :)

thanks alot. the height question is about the flowering box. but thank you.

but your right, i was thinking rows of three in the 3x7. So in the 2x2 i would like to germinate/veg 4 transfer them into the flowering box. figuring that one maybe two will be males, then as the box gets full i would be able to harvest 3 plants every week or two.

when i say veg i mean 1 maybe 2 wks at the most to get the true SOG.

am i making any sense or dreaming??

You would be better using 4x5 and no light mover = bigger better buds. You will get the same yield using or not using the light mover = smaller buds. I used light movers for 4 years than I set up a 4x5 with 1000w and grew the same as a 4x8 with light mover. So I don't use them any more.

My questions are
1.even though the light is on a mover will my smaller plants suffer?
They all get the same in theory, but your light height is determined by your tallest plant, so no they will get1/2 the light if lucky.

2.Is 1000 hps good enough? Or could I get away with a smaller lamp? The only reason is the amp usage. Electric bill or privacy I have no problems but amps, well that's a different story.
A 1000 is great but with a 3x7 2 600 would be much better. The 600 puts out more PAR for it's size than a 1000w. It also runs cooler and lower amps and with 2 600w you don't need the light mover. Spend your money on the 600 not the mover you will grow more, faster.

3.How tall should the box be? I will be growing mainly big bud and some white willow.
So your pots are 8 to 10 inches, your light fixture is 12 to 18 inches, with 600 you need to be 12 inches from the top of plants, 18 for the 1000w, so far that's 3 feet and no plants yet. If you can go 7 feet that gives you some room to grow.

Peace
