Temps have been a bit lower than I'd like lately...

So I decided to tests things out and see how much one CFL would raise the temps. My light setup will constantly be changing because I like playing around with the lights...so know that this isn't permanent, just me messing around :p

The Critical Jack Herer has some new growth and I think might finally be coming around. I pinched two of the bottom nodes off as the leaves were mostly yellow / dried out and didn't want the plant to waste energy in them. I guess she can hang around a little longer :)

Seedlings haven't shown any problems, but am letting the soil dry out before watering just in case.

lol! not even kidding, that's going to be her new name now

Just watered her a couple mins ago after almost a week of drying out so keeping fingers crossed she's alright later on in the day.....

I love rescues. This was how I learned to garden. Getting all the freebies that friends were faukin up and then nursing them back to health.

Probably a sign of many yields or sometin'.......

I'm willing to bet she will be.

Now if only I'd stop dropping all my cash into my cars, I'd be able to get my micro cab started...bongsmilie

...This is my first time using Fox Farm Ocean Forest.. Well it's day 11 and I'm pretty sure she's wanting some Nitrogen and the soil is dry enough, so I gave her a light diluted feeding of a special organic feed that I make myself. We'll see how she responds..
This too is my very first time with FFOF and am approaching that stage of growth with my girl. What was that "special organic feed" that you made?

PS-learning much from your journal btw. Keep up the great work bongsmilie.

It turned out that it wasn't that she needed nutes, but the soil isn't properly aerated. FF should be cut with perlite / lava rocks or something of that nature.

Thanks for the support :)

It's been 5 days since giving the plants a very light watering and they are showing some droop. I'm thinking the best course of action would be to replant them into a much more aerated medium for their next watering...am toying with the idea of a half soil / half perlite hempy grow. Am replanting either tomorrow or the day after.

There is growth though, and I am definitely happy about that. Think things will really take off when I get them in better soil conditions :)

Oh, and the Jack is actually a tad funky...going to have to hook that DIY carbon filter up soon. Am doing research on Ona buckets tonight as well.

How bout half perlite half vermiculite? [Oil Dri from Walmart is <$5]40 elbow bag. [my hempy recipe in 3 weeks] Just water with Nutes.

You could also mix [if you can get separate shiat] an easy aerated base . 3 parts peat or coco: and 3 parts perlite/basalt dust/lava: and 1 part high quality compost or worm casings.

Then add top dressings or just compost tea or nutes in the bottle, whatever you desire. Easy breezy.

I told someone else this as well. Another cheater trick for aeration I use, is to poke holes in the soil. Obviously you should be very careful and I usually only try and do this around the edges.

Did your mix have some broken down barkdust, woodchips or sawdust in it? Just curious....

looks good to me, short and close together nodes that what youre going to need in such a small cab.

I just went with perlite. It's simple and cheap lol. Am not trying to spend money on too much, am on a strict budget.

Mix is Fox Farm's Ocean Forest.

Tight nodes are good, but not for the sake of a stunted plant! Should have been able to turn 12/12 by now. Now I will have to veg them to a decent size or more than likely have poor yield.

Transplanted the plants last night and this grow has now turned hempy :weed:. I made a hole in the containers about an inch from the bottom for water to exit, filled the newly created reservoirs with perlite, poked holes in the old soil mix, placed plants on top of perlite reservoir and then filled sides / top / holes with perlite. Gave them a generous watering because they hadn't been properly watered in almost 2 weeks due to worries of over watering . Will post pics after giving them a day or two to recover.

I mix the FFOF with some perlite not so much because it needs it but because I get more MPG! I have grown with it straight out of the bag though and didn't have any issues. I haven't been through your whole thread yet but I believe you were using plain water, which is how it should be. You can run FFOF all the way to harvest without adding anything but water. Obviously the more perlite you mix with it the less nutes that container is going to have in it. I personally have used it with short and long veg times and don't need to give nutes until several weeks into flower and not because I think it needed them, but because I'm trying to push the envelope a little further.

People have many opinions on it, but IMO it is hands down the best out of the bag ready to go soil on the market. I do however think it is a little too strong to start seeds in. I start seeds or clones in Happy Frog, with only water again until they are a couple three weeks old and ready for their transplant into the FFOF. Good luck with the grow.
