I bought a so called red-led light that looks like yours (30 bux)...I don't think its LED tho cause I also got a spot-gro 13 watt light (90 bux) and it is the real deal. Hmmmm...does any1 know of there are people selling fake LED grow lights? Meaning they look like LED but are just reg . lights...

It's pretty easy to tell em apart by the bulb, but the difference between the cheapies and the real-deal are numerous, such as wattage, quality of the build, angle of the light beam, amount of heat projected forward as opposed to drawn backwards into the heat sink.. So many things that play a crucial role.

Lights are supposed to be 50watt each but when tested they only use 40watt input so prob give off less but were cheap and seem to be working fine at moment will add cfl's if seem to be struggling but testing first as they are all 4 bulbs came to about 80quid and heat output is very minimal can touch the leds easily as only warm.

Looking good to me :) I think eventually you'll need more light regardless, but at this stage it's lookin perfect for em!!

Are those lights similar to the light found here?

If so, those are about 12w. If it's got 168 5mm LEDs in it I wouldn't recommend using just those for flowering, not gonna be enough juice for em. If those are what you have then you're only burnin like 24 watts on them :) and they're looking mighty healthy so that could be a plus there, but once again, likely not good enough for floweringhttp://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=262

Have got a cfl ready for flowering in the red spectrum. I know that these LEDS aren't enough but doing well at moment good for cheap price and keeps electric bill and heat down for now soon as i see any change in how she's growing i'll add more light might get a blue cfl and use them together anyway but would be nice to leave on LED's even if just for green growth before flowering then add the cfl's.

Ahh that's good you got the red spectrum CFL. If I were you I would leave on the LEDs during flowering. From what I hear it's more potent than CFL/HPS/MH etc etc. Maybe due to correct spectrum?? I really can't comment on this though since I've only grown from CFL and it was superb to the stuff found on the streets here. But yeah, you're right for this stage they are keeping costs down and they are doing their desired job just fine :)

Just curious, do you know what strain this is?

More details for b4 the growlog began.

Clone was originally grown under cfl's until 12-14 inches tall, was heavily topped to about 3 inches needed a compact bushed out plant as only have 3 ft height in closet. Clone left to recover and start bushing out for 3 weeks. Then the clone was brought home and put under the LED's on 20/4 light, she was also treated to a re-potting to a 3 Gallon square planter. Reacted very well and grew quite alot in less than a week. The little girl was then given a good old LST'ing removed all small and weak tops leaving 7-8 strong ones that were tied down horizontally. and this is were the Growlog started.

Plan is to carry on the LST'ing until reach edge of pot then allow her to shoot up, putting her into flower very soon afterwards because of height restrictions and hopefully end up with a nice supply of buds lol.

I don't doubt you will get what you desire as long as you get more power in there :P

One thing you may want to try is scrogging, there are plenty of articles about it on here but basically it's putting a net over the tops of your plant and weaving them through it to create one little canopy of bud, might be worth a shot for this micro grow ;)

Thanks crunkyeah must admit have done some serious reading on many sites on internet and lucky to have helpful friends to start me off, especially with a free clone. I'm bound to make mistakes somewhere along the line but hopefully nothing major. Think there's some experimenting going on at same time with topping, LST'ing and using LED's but all good fun.

I think my best advice for you smokeyjoes is that everything you need to know is either one of 2 places. Your plants themselves, and google. I say plants first because they really will tell you what's wrong if you treat them like babies haha

You can tell just by how the leaves are how much water they need, if they're too hot, if they want food etc etc

It didn't take me too long to read my plants(maybe 2-3 months into my first grow), so it's not hard at all to do ya just gotta pay attention :)

And if you're doubtful about something/anything growing related there's a little rule of thumb I always like to remember. Mother nature knows best. However something would happen outside is how you want to replicate it indoors. Try to mimic nature as best you can and your plants will return the favor I assure you!!

Would it shock you if I told you this is only my second grow ever? :P

Crunkyeah forgot to reply to your earlier question, sorry, been a busy couple of weeks.

Probably are same bulbs as you found the supplier hasn't got them listed anymore so can't check properly. looking at getting a 300watt red and 300watt blue giant 9u cfl and reflector and use LED's around the sides to give them plenty of light and keep temps and electric down, but giving me good bud.

1st pic is after first LST

1st LST.jpg

2nd and 3rd pics show after 5 days and 2nd LST, noticeable difference in her. Quite surprised me, only really noticed by comparing photos made me happy that she's growing well.

she's only had a light LST this time just enough to keep her going to fill up the pot b4 i can flower her.

What do you think of her so far?

I think she's looking fabulous! Very good job at LST I might add ;)

Things are lookin great so far, doesn't look like any discoloration or anything unusual.

What's that little tube thingy in there for? Just curious
