If one of my tenants came to me telling me I had to update te wiring in the whole house I would tell him " your absolutely right".." Your going to have to move out until I have the money".

Then rent to someone else.

It would be interesting to see that ordinance you speak of though. Codes are updated all the time but your existing system is grandfathered in. Arc fault circuit breakers are now mandatory on bathroom circuits but of all my friends, I'm the only one that has them as I remodeled my bathroom and was required to install it. Same with smoke alarms powered by AC and nt batteries

Yup, and GFCI outlets in any spot that has liquid pretty much, (bathroom & kitchen) - here, at least.

Also, given the fact you call them "fuses" I dont have high hopes for you.
Yeah, fuses. Ya know? The things you screw into the fusebox.

Well I'm not superstitious or don't believe in any other worldly mumbo jumbo but a couple days after I made this thread my washing machine stopped working. The 240v fuse broke and my landlord and appliance guy deemed the system out of date and are replacing the fusebox with breakers. Whoooooooooo!!!

We also offered to pay 100 more a month to guarantee we got it so I know this guy has the money to fix it and yes it has a techs name and 1989 written next to it.
