Funny stem

No, I can't say that is normal, but I also can't tell you why it's not.... does it feel like it is getting soft?

Yea but i'm really worried it might be the start of pythium.

Why is it skinnier than the rest of the stem? even if it was under the soil line, wouldn't it be the same width of the soil line?
Not necessarily.

Looks like quite a few exposed roots in that photo, though. Would be best to cover them up, for sure.

No it won't be bigger below the soil. The stem above needs to protect itself from all sorts of things...like the sun :lol:

OK, i put some more soil on top, so now you can't see the white part.

God i hope it's not pythium.

Thanks again for the replies! I was gettin pretty nervous.

Okay, I don't think it is but you should get some fungicide in any case. I use Agri-fos which is a bio safe fungicide. There are others but this one works great. I called the sales rep and he told me that you could spray a tomato fruit and eat it after 24 hrs.....that's what I call safe.
