Had the same issue last week. Was lucky to have a dry week so I sprayed the adults with an insecticidale soap and spread some diatomaceous earth . Let it sit there for a few days before I had to water again and it did the trick.

I've never had fungus gnats cause any damage to plants. They're a nuisance though for sure. They seem to like to fly into your mouth or nose. And they can really be annoying pests when they start flying around your computer screen at night when you have the lights off.
