Ive never really had fungus gnats but they have become a problem, having spread to my veg tent and because they die and get stuck in my buds.
Anyone have experience with a perlite layer dusted with DE?

my brother tells me it has to be on there for the rest of the time and that makes feeding/wateringextremely difficult.

I'm growing in soil and had a fungus gnat issue that I caught early on and early in the grow. I removed the top inch of soil from the pots and replaced it with food grade DE. I was using a soil that had plenty of nutes in it at this stage so it was easy to bottom water the plants for a couple weeks while the bugs hatch and cut themselves to death before becoming adults.

I have trouble bottom watering so ive used gnatnix as a top dress before. Until a day or two ago i thought DE was junk after wet but found out its good once it dries again so its back on the table for me again if and when needed. Regardless what you use if you top water/feed make sure its a couple inches deep or youll be constantly recovering where water moves it to expose soil . And DON'T forget the adults. Make sure you don't keep any extra soil around

It depends where they came from. If they came from your environment, than you are most likely not watering properly. Yellow sticky cards and right watering habits will solve the issue. Coco can be problem ofc. If they came just straight in your mix, it can be really hard struglle. Than I would recommend to take some cuts and trash everything. Just dunno how it is possible that they get stucked in veg tent in buds…?

My first week of flower I discovered I had fungus knats. I went to my local Walmart and bought a pre mixed ready to use Neem Oil. I used once a week for two weeks, so 2 applications. I sprayed the soil really good and under side of my leaves. And bam they were gone. Also a preventative against Spider Mites which is a plus.

Definitely and i had no idea it was good after it dried. I have 6 fly paper sheets up for mature mating adults
