Fully immersive Brain music in the future. Choose now!

Ok, this is a think piece. (new weed today)

imagine that is the future and science has created a brain chip that allows you to play music in a fully immersive manner - like you are listening to your own movie soundtrack. But (unrealistically) you are limited to having ten songs permanently etched into your brain. You can play these simply by thinking of them and can choose for it to be played in your head only or fully audible by those around you in such a manner as they do not know who played it. It sounds just as immersive to them as to you. Ugh, I could have made that so much simpler.

Yeah, it's kind of like the desert island - ten records thing, but these can be played much better. You know, if you are some sort of athlete, you could play "Eye of the Tiger" real loud to urge you on to new levels of uh, sportiness.

So what are your songs? Remember, limited space, permanent, read-only files.

Shaft theme song
Track one has gotta be the theme song from Shaft. It's just so versatile. Car chases, looking cool while cruising. I'm talkin about Shaft. Right on. They say that cat Shaft's on bad mother.... Shut your mouth.

Bridge over river Kwai march
Sometimes you have to have some music to make doing a shit job a little better. This would be for those I-know-I-am-ultimately-doomed moments.

Let's get it on - Marvin Gaye
Cause, you know. Bow chicka...

Three little birds - Bob Marley
Yes, it is a great song to get high to and that alone justifies it but there's more. If you ever get in one of those do or die moments where you need to shoot your way through an alley of zombies in slow motion - that's when 3 Little Birds really would pay off. I fact, I might even intentionally put myself in that position just to use it right.

I'm singing.. (bang, bang, bang) don't worry (rat-a-tat-tat) about a thing (keeeeeer-Pow)... You get the idea.

The Ninth Symphony - Beethoven
The glorious ninth. Never gets old. Walks in the woods, running on the beach, breaking and entering.

Jeep's Blues - Duke Ellington
Anytime I would like to appear much cooler than I really am. Plenty of use there. But imagine being able to make an entrance into someplace and have Jeep's Blues start. I might consider Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman but I don't think I could live up to the drumming.

I am sure of those. Not so much these next ones...

Autobahn - Kraftwerk
Because now is the time on Sprockets when we drive.

Beautiful World - Devo
Because the world sucks. Devo knows that - yet they go on.

Where is my mind - Pixies
But I am not sure I would find enough good uses for it and it's just a little too popular.

Hmm. What else?

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream.

I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been.

To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen.

They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed.

Steppanwolf would make a lot of money off such a thing.

Fergie would not. Though I find the concept of "London Bridge" taking up 10% of my ROM frighteningly arousing - like Bailey Jay

Sweet Jane - Lou Reed
Welcome to my brain Lou. Anyone who ever had a heart wouldn't turn around and break it. And anyone who ever played a part wouldn't turn around and hate it.

Hank Williams not sure which one. But Hank's voice is so achingly sad and sincere. Sometimes you need to carry your lost loves around with you.

I need something Funkadelic.

1. 46 & 2 - Tool - for symbolism and personal meaning/inspiration

2. Bach Violin Partita #2 - J.S. Bach (worth it just for the Chaconne last movement)

(Heifetz playing Chaconne, greatest violinist ever)

3. Ninth symphony - Beethoven - You know why

4. Adagio for Strings (Platoon theme song) -Samuel Barber - Most intense build and climax ever, always makes me lose my shit

5. Misty - Erroll Garner - First wife (singer, first opera then jazz and little asian cutie) learned as her first jazz song for me

6. Violin Concerto #2 - Sergei Prokofiev (my favorite composer)

7. Nessun Dorma from Turandot - Puccini (Sung here by the greatest, Pavoratti)

8. Eleanor Rigby - Beatles - Obviously their best song ;)

9. Me - Atmosphere - Next level shit

10. Already Dead (just let me choose the entire album!) - Beck
