I was told by a girl I used to know in Ontario that Canadians loved the free health care, but if they needed a major surgery they would usually come to the States because they felt like the best specialists where here raking up the piles of money. Describing it to me, she looked at it as a great thing that she never had to worry about getting sick and not being able to afford help.
She also told me that on nights when it's too cold or hot outside, public buildings like libraries had to keep their doors open so homeless people had shelter out of the weather. I don't know if this is true since I'm not Canadian, but I have loved that country since she told me that.
