Cure only works for buds that wouldn't smoke harsh in the first place, it has never saved unflushed buds from being unpleasant. I'm not saying kill your plants with over watering in the last week, but if the plant hasn't faded at all when I chop it won't be good smoke. I can't get fade if I continue feeding.
Wow, I just noticed this.
I'm sorry to say that "You are sooo wrong"! I don't know where you got this idea BUT, you need to do some more real research - STARTING with the link I gave you (didn't read it did you!)
1: Nutrients are not "flushed" from any plant by any means!
2: "Fading" by any method to reduce the nutrient content of "buds". Simply moves nutrients TO the buds from unneeded/un-growing area's to the area needing the nutrient TO finish. ( The plant freaks out because it's NOT getting it's normal available nutrition. It moves nutrition to the area it needs to speed growth to finish so it can drop seeds giving it the chance to keep the line going.
When you DO this - you stress the plant in a way that CAN increase the chance of it going bisexual [Herming])!!!

NOTE: Riddle speeds up the "fermenting" part of the cure with his "boiling water" dump......I still need to try this. I just worry about trimming limp plant matter - I hate that......But I shall still try it this fall. Real partial to my dry and cure.....hard to change what works for you! BUT, trying new things is
learning!
I'm a huge cigar lover. I have cigars that cost more then an 1/8th of what you "flush" and don't cure (sadly)...
Many years ago. I began a journey that took a good part of my 5 weeks of vacation at the time. I traveled to The Dominican, Spain and Cuba (on a Bahamian passport) and toured some of the finest cigar facilities in the world!
I saw the rolling floors, the fermenting/final curing facilities, drying/curing sheds, and the fields where the finest tobacco's in world are grown. I was full of wonder and
questions! At a La Flour Dominica farm, standing in the field, with the head grower. I asked "When/how do you flush?"
As he was given the translation, he gave me the strangest look and said quickly back - "What ever for?". We discussed the idea and he suggested I speak with the driers and the heads of the curing facilities.
The drier/cure manager explained how as the plant dries, the cure begins. This is done by hanging the leaves in barns that are held at certain temp RH ranges
as best they can. This is done for 4-8 weeks! During that time, the chlorophyll, remaining nutrient compounds and other compounds in the plant are broken down to simple carbs and/or partially released by chemical change.
Next comes the fermentation process - this is also called "sweating" OR FINAL CURING. This is where the tobacco leaves are stacked and they tend to generate their own heat and sweat. This causes enzymes in the plant material to further breaking down chemicals found in the plant matter by what can best be described as a "form" of gasification. For this to actually work as we need it to. You should keep your jarred product in a slightly higher temp range then when drying. (I like the mid 80's) You must also have higher RH then when drying! If you put Boveda packs in your jars that are 62 to the mid 70's ones - you're doing it right. I like the 72's and 62's for curing, and a longer "cure" of 8 weeks. I keep the finished product at that 62 and enjoy rolling phatties!...
Overview of my dry and cure
Dry in about 55% RH till the stems "crack" and not bend. If your stems break - you dried too fast and need to wet it up again! Lettuce leaf in a jar full works pretty good - High RH Boveda packs work better (75's)! Be sure it gets the whole contents moist again!
This dry takes me about 7 - 10 days.
Everything is then jarred up into 1/2 gallon jars (feel free to use quarts) and put into an area that's running about 82-86F. I burp these twice daily for 2-3 min at a time, for a week. I then place the Boveda "72" packs in them. "Burping" only once a day to release any gas build up, and they stay in those for 3 weeks. I then change the Boveda's to "62's" and let them go for 4 weeks..... burping only once a week to release gas.
Now open a jar up and enjoy!!!! PERFECT > CLEAN BURNING > FANTASTIC TASTE!
